Doctor Who film script ‘in development’

May 26th, 2009

tenth_doctor_dwmLizo Mzimba has today confirmed via his Twitter page that BBC Films are currently working on a script for a Doctor Who movie!

Even though this is exciting news, it’s worth pointing out that a feature-length film has been on the cards for a while now, therefore this doesn’t guarantee that the Doctor will definitely be making his way to the big screen. But at least we can take comfort in the fact that they’re at least discussing possible storylines, cast and budgets!

Obviously, the planning stage for any film takes some time, so it could be months until we hear any official word, and there’s sadly always the possibility that it won’t go ahead at all. We’ll, of course, keep you updated!

I doubt there will be a film. If anything, they’ll split the script into two parts and make it a series finale.

I seem to remember voicing my opinions about why I don’t want a film on a previous story.

Just want to go back to an earlier discussion. I know im not talking about the film idea, already stated my opinion previously.

“And we’ll see that scene anyway as RTD has said they won’t be showing the Console Room until Series Five.”

Have you seen the RTD interviews on youtube and bbc website recently? the console is STILL there. think I’ve been proved right :D lol

Dude, what is your problem? You are so arguementative all the time, someone is making a point and you fight it all the time. Its called freedom of speech. Look it up.

You’ve pretty much contradicted yourself. You’re saying people are allowed to express their opinion, but you’re pretty much saying if you have a negative opinion, it’s frowned upon.

Theres a difference between free speech and constanstly arguing for the sake of it.

Feels like on ever story on here you post what you feel is right and be damned what other people think, and argue back to other peoples OPINIONS. People have a right to say what they think, yes you too, but theres no need to be so snarky at what others THINK. Its happening an awful lot and quite frankly im sick of it.

I’m sick of people arguing against my opinions, and frankly this whole thing started by someone arguing against a fact I’d posted from RTD.

With all due respect though, I have noticed that if someone has a THEORY (and thats all it is) over a story posted on here (i.e: “he will knock four times theories) whenever someone posts what they think, you are very quick to knock them down and state that your theory is means more than others.

I hate to burst your bubble but you don’t work for doctor who, so until your “theories” are proved right, I suggest you keep an open mind about what other people have to say.

Going by your example, I haven’t knocked anyone’s theories down at all, but in fact the opposite:

Or, it could be a direct result of my imagination going wild and causing a massive explosion in the TARDIS…

Well, there is supposed to be a massive explosion in the TARDIS so… I have a strong belief that your speculation is correct because it makes sense. Also, to add to that, the Doctor stole from the Time Lords. He’s hardly their number one idol.

I know the idea of a Doctor Who movie is an exciting one, but let’s try and keep our heads, shall we? We’re all friends here, and, as much as we love hearing your thoughts, please try and discuss them in a mature and civilised way! Thank you!

Which is exactly the point we’re trying to make. It’s just some people cant unfortunately.

Cut the argument. I’m home from Wales and no internet, so I want to buzz a little at confirmation that a DW movie is a possibility! I can’t even remember what I’ve written before, but I would love one. And I would love it to be River Song’s story, though that could get a little controversial. And RS was SM’s character, not RTD’s, so would that affect that possibility?
