John Barrowman’s stunt for Fifth Gear went horribly wrong when he lost control of the car he was driving and went spiralling down a verge. Don’t panic though, because he escaped the ordeal with only a few cuts and bruises!

The actor was driving a Subaru worth £120,000 at around 80mph when it suddenly slid off the tracks and flipped over four times, narrowly missing a nearby lake.

But paramedics managed to get Barrowman and the show’s presenter, Tiff Needell – who was sat in the passenger seat – out of the wreckage and they were taken to hospital for a routine check-up (after John had a few bits of glass removed from his eye – ouch!). Luckily, no lasting damage was done to either of them, and the accident will be shown tomorrow night at 8PM on Five.

“I’m lucky to walk away unscathed,” John said. “I got a ticking off from my mum afterwards.”
