The Waters of Mars updates and more!

July 9th, 2009

the_waters_of_mars_doctor_adelaideThe BBC have today released some more information regarding the second of this year’s anticipated Doctor Who specials, The Waters of Mars!

In the episode, Lindsay Duncan will take on the role of the Doctor’s companion as a character called Adelaide, the head of the Mars Base who doesn’t take kindly to the Time Lord’s uninvited appearance…

It’s also been confirmed that Neighbours and Casualty star Peter O’Brien will play a character called Ed, Adelaide’s second in command, and the enemies previously revealed in the teaser trailer have been named as the Flood.

As well as those tidbits of information, an exciting new preview clip has been posted over at the official website. There’s also some intriguing wallpapers and images to speculate over, and its updated homepage instructs fans to ‘dive a little deeper’.

Meanwhile, a short but sweet montage of clips from the special can be seen in the BBC Press Office’s preview of BBC One’s upcoming autumn dramas, which you can view here. The Doctor Who clips appear at rougly 25 seconds in!

The Waters of Mars is written by Russell T Davies and Phil Ford, directed by Graeme Harper and is expected to air on BBC One and BBC HD in November. The waters are coming…

Hate to put a dampener on things before they’ve even started, but did anyone else think the prostetics really looked like prostetics? It’s the first time I’ve ever said this about a DW monster, but I think they just looked fake. :(
