Heigh-ho, heigh-ho, it’s off to the Bay we go…

January 6th, 2010

cardiff-bayAs most of the UK ground to a halt and the nation kept themselves busy making snowmen (and snow Daleks!), the big freeze didn’t stop the Doctor Who production team as they set up base at Cardiff Bay to film scenes for the new series earlier today!

Matt Smith and Karen Gillan were out on location as the TARDIS materialised next to the city’s Water Fountain, and a third actor was also present for the shoot, (highlight to reveal) Tony Curran, who will be portraying the historic figure of Vincent Van Gogh in an episode written by Richard Curtis.

“Filming is on a tight schedule and has to keep on going regardless of the weather,” a member of the crew told This Is South Wales. ”Doctor Who can work around anything.”

Series 5 of Doctor Who begins later this year. Feast your eyes on an epic preview of the Eleventh Doctor and Amy’s upcoming adventures here!
