The Herald Scotland has revealed that David Tennant will be playing the protagonist Dave in an upcoming BBC One drama called Single Father.
The four-part series is being produced by BBC Scotland and follows the photographer as he struggles to come to terms with the death of his wife and tries his best to raise their four children.
But he soon falls for his late partner’s best friend and finds it difficult to juggle love and being a good father. It’s written by Mick Ford and production is set to commence in Glasgow next month.
“I feel very lucky to have been sent this script,” the Tenth Doctor actor said. “When I read what Mick Ford had written I was desperate to be part of this project.”
Single Father is expected to air later this year. Stay tuned!
The BBC will reportedly be taking their Doctor Who advertising campaign further than ever before this year, as the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond prepare to take a leap into a different dimension!
A report from Broadcast suggests that a 40-second 3D trailer to promote Series 5 will soon be previewed before showings of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland in cinemas across the UK.
The same preview will have its official debut on BBC One and on the official website this Saturday.
A BBC spokesperson said: “Doctor Who is the appropriate vehicle for 3D. It just fits. It’s a great way to introduce and showcase the new Doctor to younger viewers.”
While Broadcast have always been a reliable source in the past, this intriguing news has yet to be confirmed by the BBC. As always, we’ll keep you updated! Stay tuned!
A big thanks to Kathryn from Bright Young Things Communcations for emailing us details of a brand new video campaign launched by League Against Cruel Sports, a charity established in 1924 who are working to put an end to all cruelty inflicted on animals in the name of sport.
The short film records the reactions of various celebrities, including Sixth Doctor actor Colin Baker, as they watch footage of fox, stag and hare hunting. Today marks the fifth anniversary of the ban of hunting with dogs and it’s feared that it may be repealed this year. You can watch the video below:

A big thanks to Ricky from Titan Magazines for sending us an exclusive preview of the new Torchwood comic, Fated to Pretend, which will feature inside the upcoming issue of Torchwood Magazine!
In the comic, written by Brian Minchin with art by Steve Yeowell and John Workman, a prison van drives at breakneck speed along an isolated road, as if pursued by the devil itself.
When the doors break open and prisoners spill out onto the road, something yanks them back inside, and, by the time Torchwood arrive, the prisoners and warders are dead. But worse than that. They’ve been eaten…
The Torchwood team follow the Prison van back to Mynydd Coch, an aging Prison built high above Cardiff in the Black Mountains, to find the Gaol has been locked shut and that the transporter was the first vehicle to leave the building for months. There have been strange stories from within of horror and brutality, of Zombie warders, and prisoners eaten alive. But Jack has another theory… What will happen when he, Ianto and Gwen get inside?
Torchwood Magazine #20 will be published in the UK on February 18th, and on March 16th in the USA. Stay tuned for the latest!

Back in October last year, Blue Peter launched a ‘Design a TARDIS Console’ competition which, as its title suggests, invited viewers to come up with their very own version of the TARDIS console.
And the winner was unveiled in today’s episode of the CBBC show, chosen by the Eleventh Doctor himself, Matt Smith. He selected the entry by Susannah from Lancashire and you can check out her winning design below:
Susannah’s TARDIS will be put together by designer Edward Thomas and the rest of the Doctor Who production team and will feature in an episode of the upcoming fifth series.
As if the shiny Series 5 montage promo image wasn’t enough to scream about, the BBC had one more surprise up their sleeves today in the form of confirmation that we’ll be treated to a brand new never before seen trailer for the series this coming weekend!
The epic preview will be available to watch via the official Doctor Who website this Saturday (Feb 20th.) evening, and it will also have its nationwide premiere simultaneously on BBC One!
The exact time at which it is to hit our screens is yet to be finalized by the BBC, however thanks to Paul Cornell we’ve heard that it’s set to transmit at 6:30PM! The writer revealed on his Twitter: ”I gather that Doctor Who fans should be watching BBC1 at 18.30 this Saturday, during the break between programmes.” If this is the case, tune in between Total Wipeout and Let’s Dance for Sports Relief!
And we’ll be opening a discussion straight afterwards, so make sure you head back after you’ve seen it to share your thoughts!
With Series 5 of Doctor Who just a matter of weeks away, it’s time to look to the future - and The Daily Star has taken that to the extreme today by posting details of the finale of Matt Smith’s first series as the Eleventh Doctor.
And as always with such tabloid talk, we advise that you take everything below with a pinch of salt!
The report claims that the time travellers will encounter (highlight to reveal) Cybermen, Daleks, Sontarans and other foes from the Doctor’s past in episodes 12 and 13. A show source told the newspaper: “The producers wanted Matt to end his first season as the Time Lord with something explosive and exciting. And this fits the bill.”
They added: “It’s got all the right elements for a great finale and plenty of opportunities for cliffhangers, with fans not knowing who survives.”
However, as avid followers of the latest filming developments will know, there may be some truth behind the speculation. Of course, how much remains to be seen!
The BBC have this morning unveiled a sparkling new Series 5 montage image featuring the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond, as portrayed by Matt Smith and Karen Gillan!
As you can see below, the promo features the latest incarnation of our beloved Time Lord and his new companion against a backdrop of what appears to be the new-style vortex – a hint at what we can expect from the revamped opening titles perhaps?
Surrounding our new heroes are shots of a Weeping Angel, a Dalek and what’s reportedly been named as a Smiler - just a selection of the formidable foes they’ll be facing throughout their adventures! But just what other surprises are in store for them? We can’t wait to see!
