Sophie Okonedo to appear in Series Five
According to a report in The Sun today, Sophie Okonedo will be appearing in the fifth series of Doctor Who as a character called Liz Ten.
The newspaper suggests that the Oscar-nominated actress, best known for her role as Tatiana in drama film Hotel Rwanda (2004), was recently spotted on location filming what’s thought to be episode 2, and, if the rumours are to be believed, Liz Ten is actually a codename for (highlight to reveal) Queen Elisabeth the Tenth.
“Getting Sophie on board is a huge coup for the BBC,” a show source told the newspaper. “The forthcoming series has been criticised for being a bit light on the big names. But the feeling is less is more.”
They added: “The new boss, Steven Moffat, wants his show to be more about the Doctor rather than famous supporting cast members.”
Production for Series 5 continues in South Wales, and the brand new 13-part series is set to begin this Spring.

I love the idea of the rumoured character (which I shan’t mention, to keep it spoiler free). I think it would be an intriguing concept, as this sort of character has changed so much over history. Compare the first to the second, and I would love to see an exploration of the nth!
(Blimey. Not having read the spoiler, that’s obtuse!)
Is this the same episode with Terence Hardiman in it because I know that he’s appearing at some point this series?
Welcome back to some common sense – They added: “The new boss, Steven Moffat, wants his show to be more about the Doctor rather than famous supporting cast members.”
On the other side, it is great to see former 9th Doctor companion Sophie Okonedo back in Doctor Who.
“But the feeling is less is more”-What does that mean?
I’ve read the spoiler and if the rumours are true, I like the concept but not the casting.
@Steve
9th Doctor companion? For which episode?
