nikki-wilson-talks-sarah-jane-series-4

Following the recent announcement that The Sarah Jane Adventures will be on our screens until at least the end of 2011, its executive producer has promised that its exciting two-year renewal will bring ‘more stability’ to the CBBC spin off.

And with filming for its fourth series due to commence in South Wales in just under three weeks time, Nikki Wilson has also offered some teases as to what fans can expect from the next run of adventures, to air this Autumn!

“The Nightmare Man is part of a really big emotional journey for Luke which involves him facing his fears and excitement about the future,” she told DigitalSpy. “The Shansheeth are vulture undertakers who get embroiled with the gang on a big adventure for the middle of the series.”

Series 4 will also see Sarah Jane and the gang visit their first alien world together. “London and Bannerman Road will always be the heart of the show,” she explained. ”We’re not Doctor Who, so we don’t go flying off around the universe, but this is an opportunity for us to get a glimpse of that.”

And producers aren’t ruling out another possible crossover with its parent show, following the success of the Tenth Doctor’s appearance in Series 3! “We will always maintain our links with the show but, Sarah Jane is a show in its own right,” she said. ”There will always be room for crossovers in the future but it won’t be a bigger feature than it has been in the past.”

James Corden will be appearing on this week’s episode of Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, which airs tonight at 10:35PM on BBC One/HD.

While it’s not strictly Doctor Who related, the actor, best known for his role as Smithy in Gavin & Stacey, is currently filming his guest appearance in the forthcoming series, rumoured to be in Episode 11, so there’ll no doubt be a mention or two of that during his interview which may be worth tuning in for!

The Eleventh Doctor himself, Matt Smith, will be a guest on the show on 26th March.

doctor-who-nintendo-game-in-development

A brand new Doctor Who game is set to be released on the Nintendo Wii and DS platforms just in time for Christmas, if a report published by The Sun is to believed.

The tabloid today claims that the BBC have signed a £10million deal to create the game, which would feature the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) as well as some of his key enemies from the show, including the Daleks, the Cybermen and the Silurians!

“This has been in the pipeline for years, and we’re delighted to have finally nailed down a deal,” a source told the newspaper. ”We went with Nintendo as they have huge appeal for families and Doctor Who is very much a family brand, and the Wii console is key for us as it’s something families play together.”

The article goes on to suggest that various plans have been called off on several occasions because it’s difficult to develop a game out of the show’s format. The insider explained: “BBC Worldwide, which licenses BBC shows, has been trying to find some way of doing it, but you can’t have Doctor Who blowing things to bits with a laser gun. That would massively change the nature of the show.” Not if Captain Jack were involved…

This news may be linked to BBC Worldwide’s recent announcement that they were offering the Doctor Who branding license to any interested game partners. Stay tuned!
