Regardless, there is every possibility that Jack will come back in the future, but this season was Moffat's opportunity to make his own name as head writer, so throwbacks to the RTD era were understandably few and far between. As I said in another post in reference to the unknown Time Agent and their vortex manipulator: I don't think it was Jack's because he isn't a Time Agent anymore, and he had both hands plus his vortex manipulator when he met the Doctor. In fact, I think he was able to escape the Time Agency and become a con man (The Empty Child/Doctor Dances) because he had his vortex manipulator. But I guess we just have to wait and see ;) @Steve
