Warning! This article and its comments may contain spoilers...

The Doctor’s friends unite to send him a terrible warning; the Pandorica - which is said to contain the most feared being in all the cosmos - is opening. But what’s inside, and can the Doctor stop it?

As the end credits roll on the first part of this year’s spectacular series finale, you’re probably wondering how you’re going to cope with the week-long wait until its conclusion. While we can’t make time go faster, we can make the next 7 days a tad more bearable, as it’s over to you to scrutinize and speculate the remaining nights away!

Tonight, we saw the Doctor and Amy joining forces with River Song, as the various warnings and prophecies we’ve witnessed throughout the series came back to haunt them. As the dreaded Pandorica opened its doors to a world of unmistakable horror, the trio were faced with a dilemma they couldn’t even have imagined in their most terrifying of nightmares. But this is no dream, and as a host of familiar friends and foes returned, our heroes were thrown head first into their toughest challenge yet, caught up in a mind-boggling mystery buried deep beneath the soils of Stonehenge.

In what can only be described as an epic start to what looks set to be the finale to end all finales, there were surprises aplenty, but there’s plenty more to come, as its colossal cliffhanger leaves us twiddling our thumbs in anticipation for next week’s final curtain call. But what did YOU make of Episode 12, and what are your hopes for Episode 13? Share in the epic journey with your fellow fans by leaving a comment on this post. Please bear in mind that we won’t be monitoring the discussion for spoilers, so please don’t read any further if you haven’t yet seen the episode. You have been warned!

Series 5 concludes next Saturday, 26th June, with The Big Bang at 18:05 on BBC1/HD.

I was just about to put that myself, in the first ep, the Doctor tells Amy that he is ‘Definitely a mad man in a box’. Coincidence? Or Moffat laying down the tracks?

    @ Sean

And dont forget, it was never announced that Freema was leaving after series 3 until the very last part of Last of the Time Lords so anything can happen in Doctor Who. I hope she is staying on for another series at least.

I almost forgot about the “Silence will Fall” voice that kept playing in the TARDIS. I personally think its Omega or Davros…Id prefer it to be Omega as it makes more sense to have him as sort of leader of the alliance

It didn’t sound like Davros, or Omega to me, unless they’ve changed the voice.

I hope the going story that Karen is staying is the correct one. To be honest, despite my disagreements about certain things, I think Amy Pond is probably my favourite companion so far, so if it was all a trick and she actually is gone, I wouldn’t agree with that decision, I think Amy and indeed Karen, have got much more to give Doctor Who.

Yeah, but the BBC have pretty much proven that Karen is returning for Series Six by releasing the promos for Episode Thirteen that show Young Amy, who is the only person who can save the universe for one very important reason (well, River can too but, that would mess up the future/past).

Argh, now I’ve realised more about what happens to the Doctor and River Song! Steven Moffat, you are brilliant at hiding clues!

two quotes from the pandorica opens keep playing on my mind

There are fruit flies on Hoppledom 6 that live for 20 minutes, and they don’t even mate for life. (Pause) There was going to be a point to that… I’ll get back to you…i dnt knw why get but why was this so important to say…and this one cant stop thinkin ov since river said it…

River Song: Oh, Doctor. Why do I let you out?…….wat ya think?

    that had to be davros
i cant think of any other person that sounds like that
i really hope it is him, hes my favourite doctor who baddie of all time

but they mentioned the zygons, and they didnt appear, id like to see them in The Big Bang

    silence will fall….

    @Jay
The first quote was just banter. The second was either River regretting her letting the Doctor travel to meet other people (tying in with the marriage – “my love” – thing), or something more prison-related.

Last nights episode was definitely one of the better episodes of the series. Its sort of a shame we know Karen is coming back because it made Amy’s death kind of unimportant as we know she will somehow live again. Seeing all the monsters together was brilliant and seeing the Cybermen is always a plus. I’m sorry but I still think the Daleks look ridiculous next to all the terrifying montsers last night. I did actually like Alex Kingston a lot more aswell last night then I did in other episodes, she didnt spend the whole time fussing over him and she was a lot better! Bring on Amy’s Time ;)

there is 1 thing im not liking about stephan moffats writing
    river song
hes been playin this charad out for over 2 years now, and frankly its becoming a bit of a joke.

mr moffat, just tell us who river song really is, it wont be that big a revalation….

She’s only appeared in 3 episodes. I think you’re just impatient.

Sorry 4, but two of those appearances were in a 2 parter. Only 3 individual stories is all I mean’t.

I personally love the River Song character, and the way she’s appeared in the pre-credits sequences of the Angel’s two parter and The Pandorica Opens are two superb sequences. Some people just don’t like mystery, they want everything now, now, now! Mystery is good!
