Karen Gillan looks forward to the Proms
Karen Gillan appeared on Woman’s Hour earlier this week, where she spoke about this weekend’s anticipated Doctor Who Proms, which she’ll be co-presenting alongside Matt Smith and Arthur Darvill.
“It’s all the music from the show. Murray Gold is the composer, and he is really, really amazing,” she said. ”All the characters have a theme, so there’s The Doctor’s Theme and Amy’s Theme, and even Rory’s Theme, so they’re all going to be featured.”
She continued: “There’s also going to be some classic music that’s kind of related to time travel in some way. We’ve got Mars from The Planet and O Fortuna, one of my personal favourites. It’ll be amazing to hear it with a full choir.”
The actress also commented on what the last 12 months have been like, describing her first year as Amy Pond as ”completely mental”. ”Doctor Who’s like no other job,” she explained. “It just changes your life as soon as you’re announced in the role. Everyone’s very aware of Doctor Who, I think kids are born knowing about it. It wasn’t on television when I was growing up, yet if I saw a Dalek, I’d know it was from Doctor Who.”

Karen Gillan is a legend as far as I’m concerned. She did brilliantly at the proms!
