The official Doctor Who website has given us an early Christmas present today in the form of Shadows of the Vashta Nerada, which has been released a few days early!

Originally billed for a Christmas Day release, the fourth and final Adventure Game of the series sees the Doctor and Amy discover a sub-aquatic base that’s been attacked by a sea monster from another world. With its crew living in fear, there’s a voracious horror that hiding in their shadows. A horror known as the Vashta Nerada…

You can download the game and dive into the adventure now via this link. Be sure to let us know how you got on in the comments below! Did you enjoy it? Where does it rank alongside the previous episodes? We’ll be picking a handful of your reviews to include in our Adventure Game mini-section.

There’s also a short video of Matt Smith introducing the episode, as well as new galleries featuring wallpapers, screenshots and concept art from the game.

Its writer, Phil Ford, has said: “We’re going to end Series One with an enormous splash. The episode is set entirely underwater. Which is great because it’s been one of my ambitions to have the Doctor and Amy threatened by a fifty-foot shark-like monster – and thanks to the magic of the computer games, that ambition is fulfilled.”

This isn’t the end of the Adventure Games – another series is on its way next year!
