453,000 tune in for the Doctor and Amy in France!
Series 5 of Doctor Who made its debut in France last night, with an average audience of 453,000 (2%) tuning in for Matt Smith’s first 3 episodes in role as the Eleventh Doctor!
Meanwhile, Beans on Toast have let us know about their exclusive interview with Belgian voice artist David Manet, who dubbed for both the Ninth and Tenth Doctors in France. “What I remember is the pleasure of working on Doctor Who,” he explains, ”and the surprises that came in the scripts and the quality of this show.”
He admits: “At times, it was exhausting – really – and sometimes it was frustrating because we couldn’t quite match the original performance. Because Doctor Who is very British, in the way it is made, its spirit, language and energy. So, as a voice actor, you do get frustrated when you think “this is not quite as good as it could be”. In a dub, there’s bound to be a big part of betrayal of the original.”
Thank you to Aurélie for the news. We hope French fans enjoy the rest of the series!

Je vais verifier si je peux louer l’émission de fr-tvod!
Nope, no series 5 yet. Series 1 and 3, though.
série 1 et 3 ont été bonnes en français. Donc, j’irais pour ceux-là.
@Bobin
Etes-vous français? Et si oui, avez-vous vu le premier épisode de la cinquième série? Qu’en pensez-vous?
