Exhibition in Cardiff to close its doors this weekend
This weekend marks the end of an era in Cardiff as its Doctor Who Exhibition will be closing its doors.
The exhibition – which has been visited by over 500,000 people since its launch – will be closing this Sunday to make way for the Doctor Who Experience, which is to be relocated to the city in 2012. However, as Wales Online reports, Graham Jones, who runs the exhibition, has suggested that closing it so soon before the launch of the new attraction will be damaging to the city’s economy.
“It’s damaging to the economy of Wales and the economy of Cardiff,” he said. “We thought they would have respect and regard for their fans. It does seem that this decision has been made in a way that is not very compassionate towards Cardiff.”
He goes on to admit that he feels it should’ve remained open over the Easter holidays.
He explained: ”We know from our attendance figures last year that thousands of people would come during Easter, and many will still turn up thinking the exhibition is open.”
To mark its closure, the Exhibition shop is offering a free poster when you spend over £25, and a free t-shirt when you spend over £35. If you’ll be going this weekend, enjoy!
