Steven Moffat has admitted that he’d only consider bringing Captain Jack back to Doctor Who if the plot required it.
While John Barrowman has been open about his desire to return to the series, the showrunner has told TVLine that it all depends on the circumstances of the story. “When we’ve got a good story, we’ll do it,” he said. “You can’t just bring somebody back and say, ‘That’s a story’. It’s not, ‘How do you bring Captain Jack back?’. I’ll be thinking, ‘You know what this needs? We need to bring Jack back for it’.”
He goes on to reveal that it was only John’s priorities on Miracle Day that stopped Jack from making a comeback in A Good Man Goes to War. He added: “I’d have brought him back, because it would be obvious for him to call upon Jack in those circumstances.”

Home Media Magazine chatted to Matt Smith at Comic Con, and during the interview he discussed his memories of working with Elisabeth Sladen, who passed away in April.
The actor made a guest appearance as the Doctor in Series 4 of The Sarah Jane Adventures, and has said that he will remember the late actress for her “great grace”. “She was like royalty,” he explained. “What’s incredible about Lis is she actually meant something to three generations, to kids back in the 70s and 80s, to kids now and to adults now.”
He continued: “I think that’s a remarkable feat and a testament to Elisabeth Sladen. She had great grace and a great sense of youthfulness about her, which I have not seen in many people. It’s a tragedy, a real sad day for everyone associated with Doctor Who.”

Chris Albrecht, the President and CEO of the Starz network, has revealed that the future of Torchwood all depends on Russell T Davies’ commitments.
Speaking to EW at the TCA press tour, Albrecht explained that “it’s about Russell” when asked about the probability of a fifth series. “He has a lot of things on his plate,” he said. “If Torchwood’s at the top of his list, that’ll effect the future of Torchwood.” Russell has previously stated that “there’s only so long you can spend doing Torchwood”.

The fight against PhiCorp takes the Torchwood team to California, where a trap is waiting, while Oswald and Jilly encounter an enemy of their own.
After Jack’s intense encounter with Oswald at the end of the previous episode, the truth behind the miracle is slowly but surely coming to light. But, like the Torchwood team, we are still a long way from getting our answers, and so the mystery continues to deepen!
In the new episode, Escape to LA, the clue was quite literally in the title as Jack, Gwen, Esther and Rex headed to Los Angeles as their fight against PhiCorp notched up a level…
As expected, though, there was a trap waiting for them in sunny California (but aren’t they used to that by now?), while Oswald and Jilly encountered an enemy of their own.

Matt Smith has revealed that he would “love” to see a multi-Doctor episode for the 50th anniversary in 2013.
Speaking to Newsarama.com, the actor explained: “There hasn’t been any official talk about it. That’s still over a year away. But I’d love for it to happen. How amazing would it be to see Tom Baker?! Can you imagine just seeing him back in the scarf, man? And Paul McGann is a great actor. I say bring back Chris and Dave, too! How many Doctors can we get into one story?!”
He added: “Imagine if there were 5 or 6 of us and we all look at and judge each other.”
Seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy has previously said that he would be “delighted” to be involved in one, while David Tennant recently said that a return isn’t “impossible”.
