Karen Gillan cast as lead in new indie comedy film
Karen Gillan has been cast as the lead in a new independent comedy film, Screen Daily has reported.
In Not Another Happy Ending by David Solomoms, the Amy Pond actress will portray “a beautiful, eccentric writer” who’s blocked on her latest miserable novel as a result of being happy and successful. She will be appearing alongside Emun Elliott, who will play her publisher, who sets out to help her complete her book by making her life more miserable. The film will be directed by John Mckay.
Mckay said: “We have two of the newest, hottest, sexiest pair of lead actors out of Scotland. Just right for the kind of quirky, romantic indie movie this is set to be.”
Produced by Glasgow based Synchronicity Films, filming is to begin in late 2011/early 2012. Meanwhile, Karen will be making her West End theatre debut in the autumn.

Gotta wonder where she’s gonna be able to make time for Doctor Who. Maybe there’s going to be a mid-season break like there appears to have been during production of Series 6 (which allowed Karen to do the Shrimpton film).
If the start of Series 7 isn’t until February 2012, as is rumoured, then I’m sure she would be able to fit this in before returning to Doctor Who. Indie movies tend not to take too long to shoot.
