The TV Choice Awards 2011 took place in London tonight, where Doctor Who took home two awards to add to its ever growing collection!

Not only was Doctor Who named as the nation’s Best Family Drama, but Karen Gillan also won the Best Actress award for her portrayal of Amy Pond! Matt Smith was nominated for Best Actor, however he lost out to David Tennant for his role in Single Father. At least a Doctor won it though, eh? A huge congratulations to all the cast and crew!

Definitely well deserved for Karen. She is a highly rated actress with a big future ahead of her and congratulations to the others :). I wonder if the TV Choice Awards will be shown on TV? So we can see Karen give out a speech :P

Especially after The Girl Who Waited, Karen definitely deserved that!
Congrats to Tennant, but Matt Smith needs an award already! (Has he won an award? I don’t remember)

I most certainly agree that Karen Gillan more than proved her acting abilities in “The Girl Who Waited”. I’ve had a crush on her since her debut in “11th Hour” and have known since that episode that she’s a terrific actress. She has no need in going “over the top”. As I’ve written elsewhere in comments on this website, she’s very subtle in her acting. Those little looks aside. Those little twitches of her lips. I think it’s possible some viewers miss it. Obviously the TV Choice awards voters didn’t! Great for her!
