Rate & Discuss: The Gathering

As the Three Families plunge the world into a recession, the Torchwood team must strike a bargain with the devil himself.
Times have never been tougher for Torchwood, but was the latest episode a hit or miss?
So, the End of the Road wasn’t the end of the road after all, although it has cleared the pathway for the penultimate instalment, which contained shocks, twists and a Gathering.
With Gwen back in Wales tending to her father as he fought for his life, Jack was across the pond fighting for his, and time was running out, not just for them, but for the world.
The only hope for the human race lied with a bargain between our heroes and the devil.
So, it’s that time again! Was The Gathering worth getting together for? With one more episode to go, do the seeds set in Episode 9 make for a promising finale? Let us know!

Keep up to date with all the Miracle Day developments at our Torchwood site!

Well, I was expecting something brillant and was completely let down, as with most Davies series on dr who and torchwood, we get a great buildup, and a complete blah… usually he was good for a shock twist in the episode before the season finale
****SPOILER ALERT***** but we are treated to “the blessing” that looks like pink insulation in our homes, not just deadly insulation but bad sfx insulation that eats blood and spreads from shanghai to bueno aires zzzzz…. Can we move the show back to its roots please?
OMG SO EXCITING!!!!!!!! I cant wait for the last episode but still a week to go :(
A brilliant episode from the best writer of Children of Earth! Also, RTD’s radio news report at the beginning of the episode was brilliantly unexpected, and that brilliant explanation for that man’s suicide in Episode Six. Hopefully that noise coming from within the crack is an alien.
Wow, did not expect that. John Fay is a brilliant writer, and my heart was really pumping when we found out what the miracle actually was! fantastic episode, so cant wait till the finale, lets just hope it dosent disappoint! :D 10/10
Well, it’s really feeling like Torchwood now! This was definitely the best episode yet. All the plot points are coming together…I’m actually excited for next week’s episode!
Really, something just out the corner of your eye you can’t quite see?
Started making me think of all sorts of things like perception filters and the many other things that those in the Whoniverse have gotten themselves up to!
And then I had to take it that one step further. Anyone ever wonder about the 456? It occured to me way back when, how did they come to realize that children made good drugs in the first place? (Of course I’ve always had the same questions about horses and glue too!)
What I’m wondering is what if whoever was/is behind this was pulling the strings behind that too?
I’m propabaly going off in a far off direction, but what can I do, I’ve got a writer’s imagination, lol!
Just seen the Australian trailer (well, British too) for the finale and I think it was a bad thing to leave all the things that link Miracle Day to Series One to Three for the second half of the series. I mean, Jack could’ve told Esther he’s from the future in Episode Five, so why does he only get around to telling someone (especially Oswald) in the last episode of the series?
I was just watching torchwood season 2 episode 7 online and i found something interesting. Its probably just a coincedence but Owen asks jack why he brought him back and jack says ‘Cause I wasn’t ready to give up on you. I guess I was hoping for a MIRACLE. And I still am.
I just found something else. In miracle day: the end of the road, Esther is talking to her sister on the phone and her sister says she has volunteered for catorgory 1. Then she says
‘Sometimes I wonder what keeps us from falling strait through the earth, to the other side of the world.’ that got me thinking that she might have seen the blessing. and “volunteering” for catorgory 1 is basically suicide, like wat the chinese agent did when he saw the blessing in episode 6. Again, could be a coincidence but this time i dont think it is
It was ok. It may change after I’ve seen the finale episode, but as I feel now, I think the first half of Miracle Day so tainted the series that I can’t enjoy the second half, which is so much improved and more like Torchwood.
Things have sped up and as I say, have become more Torchwood but I just feel numb about it at the moment. No excitement, no disappointment, nothing. It was just ok through the first half and better in the second half, but……..I watch Series 1 to 3 and that’s Torchwood, I watch Miracle Day and it hasn’t felt the same.
I’ll watch next week, mainly because I have next to no clue what’s going on and hope that all is revealed, so it could all end amazingly, but if it doesn’t, that will have been one hell of a disappointing series.
Might have been mentioned already, but was that RTD doing the voiceover near the beginning of the ep? Sounded a lot like him.
I’ve only just watched it (super late, I know). I have to say I actually laughed out loud at Oswald’s reaction to Jack’s blood. Maybe not the reaction they were looking for, but as much as I dislike Oswald the actor is really really good at being a creep. And he does get some amusing lines in there.
My immediate reaction to the Blessing was relief that RTD hadn’t made up some weird looking monster to be the alien.
My second reaction was, “Now why didn’t digging that hole wake up the Silurians?” Heheh. That’s what I get for re-watching series 5 of Doctor Who last month ;)
