It has been reported that the Doctor Who cast and crew will be heading to Australia to film next year!
According to TV Tonight, Australia’s leading TV blog, plans are currently underway for “multiple episodes” of the new series to be shot down under, for broadcast in 2013.
If it all goes ahead, it will be following on from the success of The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon, which were filmed on location in the Utah desert.

It has been confirmed that this year’s Christmas special will air on BBC One on Christmas Day at 7pm-8pm!
The festive episode – entitled The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe – was written by Steven Moffat and tells the story of Madge Arwell and her children, who are evacuated to a draughty house in Dorset during World War II, where they enter a magical wintry world.

Yep, you guessed it! This week’s issue of Radio Times (with listings for 3rd-9th December) went on sale today, and it’ll be pretty easy to spot, as it’s got the Doctor on the cover!
As part of the build up for this year’s Christmas special, The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe, the magazine’s spoken exclusively to Matt Smith and guest stars Bill Bailey, Alexander Armstrong and Arabella Weir about what’s in store in the “magical and mysterious” adventure, which also features Claire Skinner as Madge Arwell.
When Madge and her two children, Lily and Cyril, are evacuated to a draughty old house in Dorset during World War Two, they enter a magical wintry new world with the Doctor.
Matt Smith and Karen Gillan are featured in BBC One’s new Christmas advert, in which an array of stars come together to sing their hearts out for the festive season!
The musical number is a rendition of ‘Consider Yourself’, and Matt and Karen are also joined by a Cyberman to help them get into the spirit of things. Loving the jumpers, guys!

It’s Doctor Who’s anniversary today – time to look back and celebrate 48 years of everybody’s favourite Time Lord!
On this very day in 1963, the first ever episode, entitled ‘An Unearthly Child’, was shown on BBC One (at 5.15pm to be exact!), and William Hartnell was introduced to the world as that mad but wonderful man with a box. The rest is history!
All these years later, the Doctor keeps getting madder, and there are no signs of him slowing down any time soon!

During Children in Need on BBC1 last night, we were shown an exclusive preview of next month’s Doctor Who Christmas Special!
In addition, its title was also confirmed as The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe, and we know that it features Claire Skinner as Madge Arwell, who’s evacuated from war-torn London with her two children, Lily and Cyril. There, they are greeted by a madcap caretaker whose mysterious Christmas gift leads them into a magical world.
