New Playstation, PC Doctor Who games revealed!
BBC Worldwide have today released details of a new range of Doctor Who games for Playstation and PC!
The first game, entitled The Eternity Clock, is to be released in 2012, promising to “immerse gamers in the universe of Doctor Who” as they “take on the roles of the Doctor and River Song” in order “to master the complexities of time with exceptional game play”. Two further games will be available, and all of them will boast photo-real graphics alongside TV quality scenes and highly realistic characters.
The games – developed by Supermassive Games – will be available on Playstation 3 ®; Playstation Vita ® and PC platforms. EVP of Digital Entertainment at BBC Worldwide, Robert Nashak, commented: “We are creating these games for Playstation 3 and Vita, with adaptations that will bring the Doctor Who wonder and madness to each platform.”
You can see a teaser for the first game below, and follow its official Twitter for news!
What do you think of the news? Do the games excite you? Let us know in the comments!

Why the Doctor and River Song? Interesting. This might be the only game that will encourage me to get a PS3..
Supermassive Games …. not exactly well known for innovative gameplay?
If Eidos… Betheseda… Bioware were involved… then I’d be excited.
Adaptations for all platforms!? and a super massive game?! Seems like it’s got a lot of Sonys faith which promises more than the nintendo crap. Since when was it a series of games though and does this make it a downloadable series of titles or disk based?
We need more information!
its about time a Doctor Who game is to be released on console, and have they finally done it? …. No they haven’t, and they won’t have done till it’s on Xbox.
WHOA you get to be the Doctor and River? Now THAT is a game I’d play, and I don’t even own a playstation. I’m definitely getting that for the PC
@Alex
Seeing as the PS3, PS Vita and PC are all consoles, then that means they have “finally done it”. Just because it’s not available on Xbox doesn’t mean it’s not a console game.
Supermassive Games are a very small developer, pretty much only noted for Little Big Planet Level Kits. It’s doubtful they’ll have access to that decent a game engine, backed up by the fact this will be a PSN Digital Title, as opposed to a proper boxed game.
Having said that, the fact the BBC have gone for a minor developer has been shown before, when they handed a Doctor Who MMO licence to Three Rings Design, though they’ve recently been bought by Sega, which does improve how well known they are.
It’s not gonna be a Triple A title, but Supermassive do have things going for them in terms of this title.
Matt Smith and Alex Kingston are providing the voiceovers, so whatever’s produced will be authentic. Supermassive are a British Developer, so they will be familiar with Doctor Who.
I guess it will all come down to gameplay, which they’re not ready to show us yet. At this stage, I’m not too confident and probably won’t buy it, but we’ll see what happens.
What is this PS Vita?
@Patrick
Playstation Vita, it’s a handheld gaming device, a replacement for the PSP (Playstation Portable) and was called the PSP2 before it got its proper name.
@Alex
*Sigh* Really why do people still do this ‘X-Box vs. PlayStation flame war’ for. It’s lame.
@David
Agreed, I’ve never got into one of those arguements, a whole load of anger and frustration over an issue that will never be resolved.
You can choose to be either one of four types of Gamer:
1) Xbox Fanboy
2) Playstation Fanboy
3) PC Fanboy
4) A Gamer That Enjoys All Of Them
I agree with you though David, I’m really sick and really bored of this particular flame war too, especially since it’s likely that if “The Eternity Clock” does well on PS3, Vita and PC, it’ll likely be released on Xbox Live too.
Speaking for myself, I really don’t want the great community of Whoviannet descending into Console Wars and sniping every time there’s a news story about a Doctor Who game, particularly in front of those that aren’t Gamers.
Ooooh. This looks fun. Why can’t it be out in time for Christmas? Definately be buying this (for PC…I am one of the minority who never owned either PS or Xbox :p)
