Sylvester McCoy, Sophie Aldred discuss returning
Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred have been talking about the possibility of returning to Doctor Who as part of its 50th anniversary next year.
In an interview with Shadowlocked, the Seventh Doctor actor revealed: “I keep meeting fans all over the world, and all they want for the 50th anniversary is for all the Doctors to come together. Someone suggested that they should get all the old Doctor Who actors to play other characters, and I think that would be huge fun.”
Meanwhile, Aldred – who appeared alongside him as his companion, Ace – admitted that she’s “waiting for a call”. “I’d drop everything,” she said. “She’d soon be back to bashing up Daleks with a baseball bat! Although, I did find out that Russell T Davies had planned for Ace to be in The Sarah Jane Adventures. But yes, I would love to. You never know.”
Steven Moffat has said that “there will never be a better time” for fans than 2013.

I have to say I would welcome back the other actors in their respective “DOCTOR” parts and the companion actors and actresses as well in their respective parts but the through of the previous Dr actors playing DIFFERENT charactors IN Dr Who ? Please NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ! Just wrong on SO many levels !
My fave Doctor and companion, 7 and Ace. Not sure how it would work having his Doctor back; I know they did it with Davison, but not sure you can use the same excuse to get past the ageing again. Obviously Sophie could portray an older Ace though. Still, if there’s a man who can think up a way round Sylvester looking older it’s Moffat.
@TWWL
I agree, the one thing Moffat has is lots of imagination!
Okay, the seventh Doc not my fave by far but I promise I will cheer for him or any others if they return!!!! And I’d love to see Ace again!
Ooooh! That could be quite an interesting story, actually! The 11th Doctor encounters all these strange characters who look exactly like all his old selves! But they all insist that they’re not old hims!
That could be quite frightening, really. Imagine the right circumstances, the right deadly enemy who is controlling the encounters. Yes, that could be great!
Still, I would prefer the 11th Doctor to encounter his true former selves. I’m willing to work around the “aged appearance” bit.
im not to fussed on sylvestor mc coy coming back into doctor who for the 50th anniversary but i would love to see ace again i thought she was a brillient companion and her mega radio she carried around allways put a smile on my face :)
@Stormageddon What rubbish! Peter D, Colin B and Syl M have already played other roles in Doctor Who on audio. PD and CB have played other roles in the “Classic” series. PD play Omega and Colin Baker shot PD in Arc of Infinity
@Stormageddon Sorry, I forgot, William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and Tom Baker have also play other characters in Doctor Who. So really, there is no reason why any of the actors could not play other roles in Doctor Who. So that’s 5 Doctors playing other characters…….explain exactly how “Just wrong on SO many levels”?
Would love to see 7 and Ace back, firstly because they are favourites of mine, and secondly because they never got a proper send-off in the classic series. It just seemed so unfair (you’d think I’d have gotten over that by now…)
