Matt Smith has been discussing the big 50th anniversary with Forbes and he has suggested there may be a live TV event during the “far-reaching” celebrations.

He’s hinted that the landmark year – for which the plans are “extensive” – will be marked with more than just a special episode, explaining: “I think it will be a live event – the way it is transmitted on TV will hopefully be an inventive thing and something different.” He added that he is “very pleased and privileged” that he’ll be involved in the festivities.

Series 7 premieres this Saturday at 7:20pm on BBC One with Asylum of the Daleks.
