A Town Called Mercy had its premiere over the weekend, but what has been the reaction to the Western adventure?
The Guardian has praised its writer Toby Whithouse for his “sharp dialogue” while the Telegraph describes the episode as a “powerful morality tale”. The script is “witty and edgy” according to the Independent however Radio Times have suggested it “lacks authenticity” as the reviewer explains: “I don’t believe in it.” The story was “cosily familiar” adds SFX, and Digital Spy says it was “rich with emotion”.

In the overnight ratings department, the episode was seen by 6.6 million, which makes Doctor Who the day’s 3rd most watched show, after X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing.
The drama continues on Saturday in the Ponds penultimate story The Power of Three.
