Matt Smith has predicted that Jenna-Louise Coleman is to become “very popular” amongst Doctor Who fans.

The actress will join the series full time as the Doctor’s new companion in this year’s “magic” Christmas Special with Matt describing her as a “great” addition to the TARDIS.

Speaking at an event at the Doctor Who Experience last Friday, he said: “I very much enjoy working with Jenna. She is very detailed. She works hard and she is very prepared.”

The actor also commented on the Ponds’ exit in the latest episode, The Angels Take Manhattan. “I think it was a wonderful and fitting end,” he explained. “They have been a fabulous testament to the show. It was an emotional event. I thought it was very sad.”
