Russell T Davies has admitted to being none the wiser about what’s being planned for the 50th anniversary.
The writer – who served as the series showrunner when it was brought back to our screens in 2005 – has told What’s on TV that he has asked current boss Steven Moffat to keep him in the dark about the festivities. When asked if he will have any involvement in the landmark year, he revealed: “What would I do? Turn up and make the tea? I think I’d be like the ghost at the feast!”
He’s previously explained he loves being away from the show to “watch it like a kid”.
It would be a bit of a shame if RTD didn’t have anything to do with the 50th Anniversary, if only because he was one of the people responsible for bringing Doctor Who back to life in 2005.
At the same time, I can see his point. He hasn’t been part of the show for two years now, 2013 will be three and the only thing he’s had to do with the 11th Doctor was the SJA episode “Death of The Doctor” and PERHAPS his ‘birth’ at the end of “End of Time – Part 2″.
