Matt Smith has predicted that Neil Gaiman’s upcoming Who episode will go down as “a fan’s favourite”.

The writer’s latest contribution to the series will be shown next year as part of Series 7: Part 2. His first episode, The Doctor’s Wife, recently won a Hugo Award, and the star of the show has told Digital Spy that his next episode will prove to be just as popular. “It is very different,” he said. “But I think it will be a fan’s favourite. There’s something in it as Neil’s brilliant ideas always add a level to Doctor Who.”

Filming for this episode is due to begin soon, with the read-through having taken place in Cardiff yesterday (Wednesday). Neil has updated his journal to coincide with the start of production. In it, he admits to being “really a bit nervous” before teasing us its title…
