Twitter stir as fan made anniversary trailer surfaces

A fan made trailer for the 50th anniversary special caused a buzz on Twitter today as fans debated its authenticity.
The trailer in question – which appeared online this morning – uses a mixture of CGI with clips from past episodes and it has been cleverly edited to make new scenes featuring John Hurt, Clara and Rose, as well as an interaction between both the Tenth and Eleventh Doctors.
It spread like wildfire as fans assumed it had been leaked.
While some were unconvinced, others were fooled by the trailer, which was uploaded to YouTube by a user named ‘John Smith’. The BBC has since told WhovianNet: “There’s no official trailer yet. That’s not the genuine article.” Check it out below – did you fall for it!?

This trailer is obviously fake, you can tell due to the reused clips of Ten. That being said, it is incredibly realistic, and I’ve never seen a fanmade trailer like it! The use of CGI is incredible and the inclusion of the portraits, Rose, John Hurt, you can easily see why people were fooled!
I feel sorry for the editor of the real trailer who has to try and live up to this!
…don’t open it.
Oh that’s hilarious! WELL DONE! That was so good, whoever made it needs to be smacked.
Awesome video, man.
Beautiful work! Somebody seriously needs to offer a job to some of these people. This reminds me of the fake trailer that was put together (maybe even by the same person?) for Series Six, which was fabricated from a combination of old footage, bits from a couple of the Harry Potter movies, and some outright CGI. It was *very* convincing, and made me very much want to watch the nonexistent series it was advertising. ;-)
There are some really talented amateurs out there. It’s pretty cool!
Oh, forgot to add…. Doing a 3D conversion on existing footage *for fun* ramps up the impressiveness of this amateur effort. Not sure I like the 3D conversion; I’ve honestly never been too keen on 3D conversions, and have mixed feelings about 3D in general. (It’s overrated, IMHO, especially given that significant fraction of the audience gets physically sick when viewing it, which wouldn’t seem to be a great selling point.) But hey, major props to him for doing such a good job with it!
Bravo! Best fan made trailer I’ve seen in a long time!
Is their a non 3d version?

You can turn 3D off by clicking the “3D” button.
