John Hurt to receive Shakespeare honour

John Hurt is to be honoured by the Shakespeare Theatre Company for his contribution to classical theatre in America.

According to Broadway World, the actor, who appeared as the War Doctor in last year’s 50th anniversary special The Day of the Doctor, is one of three stars of the stage and screen to be recieving the coveted accolade – the other two being Stacey Keach and Diana Rigg.

Diana Rigg is also a former Doctor Who guest star having played Mrs Gillyflower in The Crimson Horror.

The awards will be presented on 5th October 2014 at a ceremony in Washington D.C where the Shakespeare Theatre Company is based – congratulations to all for their achievements.
