Some intriguing Series 10 updates have been revealed in the latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine as filming on its fourth block (Episodes 5 and 9) commences in Cardiff.

Firstly, the fifth episode is written by Jamie Mathieson - whose previous timey-wimey credits include Mummy on the Orient Express, Flatline and The Girl Who Died – and will guest star Kieran Bew, Justin Salinger, Peter Caulfield, Mimi Ndiweni and Karen Brayben. The Doctor will get a blast from the past in Ep 9, meanwhile, as Classic Series writer Rona Munro returns with a brand new adventure.

Rona, whose involvement in the new series was recently teased by Steven Moffat, wrote the iconic Seventh Doctor serial Survival which was the last story aired as part of the show’s original 26-year run following its cancellation back in 1989. Her Series 10 episode will guest star Rebecca Benson, Daniel Kerr, Juwon Adedokun, Brian Vernel, Ben Hunter, Aaron Phagura, Sam Adewunmi and Billy Matthews. What do you think of these updates?
