January 28th, 2017

It is with great sadness that we report that Sir John Hurt has passed away at the age of 77.

The veteran star of the stage and screen was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2015 and died at his home in Norfolk in Wednesday, as BBC News reports.

With a career spanning over five decades, the actor will be particularly remembered by Doctor Who fans for his portrayal of the War Doctor in The Day of the Doctor. He was knighted in 2014 for his services to drama.

Our thoughts are with his family and friends, as well as his fans all around the world who will be mourning the loss of such a talented man. Goodnight, John. We will always remember when the Doctor was you.
