who-breaks-another-guinness-world-record

Doctor Who has broken another Guiness World Record for bringing together the largest gathering of people dressed as the show’s characters.

The record-breaking event took place earlier this week at La Mole Comic-Con Internaciona in Mexico, where the Twelfth Doctor himself Peter Capaldi was on hand to witness the auspicious accomplishment. A grand total of 492 Doctor Who fans were in attendance, all dressed to impress as their favourite heroes, villains and variations thereupon from over 50 years of time and space.

“This afternoon, the World Cosplay record was both set and smashed,” Peter said. “It is no surprise to me that it was by the Latin American fans, who are renowned for their passion.”

Back in 2013, the series entered history books for becoming the largest ever simulcast of a TV drama for the global broadcast of The Day of the Doctor in over 94 countries.

day-two-of-the-doctor-who-festival

It was day two of the Doctor Who Festival in London today (Saturday) with Jenna Coleman taking a break from filming her new ITV drama series to leave her mark on the Time Lord festivities.

The outgoing Clara Oswald actress took to the stage alongside Peter Capaldi, Michelle Gomez, Ingrid Oliver and Steven Moffat to answer questions from the fans, although the crowd in the theatre hall was more like a menagerie of Fezzes, Doctors and, of course, the odd Dalek! Here’s some coverage from the day and let us know if you were in attendance.

charity-gala-offering-tea-with-jenna-coleman

Every Doctor Who devotee across the land has no doubt dreamt about having tea with Jenna Coleman and one lucky fan will be able to do just that!

In addition, they’ll be helping to rebuild the lives of children whose worlds are threatened by disease, conflict or disability, which is pretty much as important as causes get, as the once in a lifetime meet and greet with the Clara Oswald actress is one of the prizes that’s up for grabs at One to One Children Fund’s upcoming gala, Stardust, on 1st November 2015 at Banqueting House in Whitehall.

Attendees will gather to out bid each other for the chance to spend an afternoon with the popular companion and event organisers have contacted WhovianNet to very kindly offer discounted gala tickets – at the special price of £95 - to the first 20 Doctor Who fans who email olivia@onetoonechildrensfund.org to register their interest. Don’t miss out, folks!

The popular Doctor Who star is an Ambassador for the charity and last year she travelled to Port Elizabeth in South Africa to see first hand how your generous donations are helping to relieve the suffering of younger people in the most under resourced areas of the world.
