Steven Moffat’s revealed the script for Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary story is “under lock and key” to avoid any of its top secret details leaking out.
Talking at the press launch for the new series in London, he explained he’s going to great lengths to protect the contents of the long awaited episode, to be broadcast this November in 3D. “I make sure I don’t get a script, because I will l lose it,” he said. “So I forbid people to hand me one – it is on my computer under lock and key instead.”
Matt Smith was also at the event, telling BBC News the reveal of the Doctor’s “greatest secret” will form as part of the build up to the anniversary adventure. “That big secret,” the actor teased. “I read the special and clapped at the end. It is hilarious and vast and epic. It will be one of the biggest, best and boldest adventures the Doctor has ever been on and be one of the most momentous occasions in the show’s history. That’s the plan.”
In the sequence, written by Steven Moffat, the Doctor takes a break on Earth from his quest to find Clara. The scene will premiere on the official site at noon on Saturday 23rd March and will also be available via the Red Button from 5:15pm.

Matt Smith said the upcoming 50th anniversary special is “spellbinding” at a recent public Q&A appearance held at an Apple store in London.
Last month it was confirmed that a special 3D adventure will be screened on TV and in cinemas to mark the series’ half a century on screen. The actor promised fans it won’t disappoint, hailing it as one of the best “ever, ever, ever”. “Steven’s been wanting to write this script for a long time,” he said. “He has really done it justice.”
He continued: “There are parts of it in mad 3D, but what he’s done with the idea is really clever – it’s not just throwing things at the screen. There are elements that are different from normal episodes. When you combine all the elements that are different it’s not just an episode of Doctor Who, it is something else – something bigger and more exciting.”
He added that he has “known for ages” who will be starring in the episode – “You’ll have to wait and see but you won’t be disappointed,” he teased. Let the speculation continue…
