John and Carole’s children novel, Hollow Earth, is also out now. Find out more here!
It starts with a series of unexplained events. Earth tremors across the globe. People being driven insane by their heightened and scrambled senses. And the world is starting to notice – the number one Twitter trend is #TheLoco. Governments and scientists are bewildered and silent. The world needs Torchwood, but there’s not much of Torchwood left. Captain Jack has tracked the problem to its source: a village in Peru, where he’s uncovered evidence of alien involvement. Back in Cardiff, Gwen Cooper has discovered something lurking inside the Torchwood software – something alien and somehow connected to Jack. If the world is to be restored, she has to warn him – but she’s quickly becoming a victim of the madness, too!

Radio Times has a feature interview with Katy Manning, in which she fondly reflects on the impact Doctor Who had – and continues to have – on her life.
The actress appeared as companion Jo Grant in the series between 1971-1973, and comments: “It was a real high for me. Three of the most inspiring, creative and loving years of my life. Jon and I were so close.” She goes on to describe her charater as “endearing”. “She was fiercely loyal,” she added. “She offered her life for the Doctor’s.”
In 2010 she reprised the role in The Sarah Jane Adventures. She guest starred in Death of the Doctor, in which she appeared on screen with Elisabeth Sladen and Matt Smith…
“It was the first time I’d actually worked with Lis, although we had already become close friends,” she said. “We had a lot of past with Jon that bonded us. And Matt’s a joy to work with. It’s an education to watch his beautifully realised physicality as the Doctor. I said to him once, ‘Jon Pertwee would be proud of what you’ve done with the character’.”.

Jane Espenson, who contributed as one of the writers for last year’s series of Torchwood, has said that she is “very proud of” the series and what it achieved for US television.
During a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she touched on the mixed response Miracle Day recieved from the fans as a result of its move over to America. “The Torchwood fans are very passionate,” she said. “I’ve never dealt with a more passionate group of fans. So they weighed in very loudly. I was very proud of what we did.”
She explained: “I thought it turned out amazingly well. I don’t think you can ever beat Children of Earth, which was an absolute masterwork, but I thought we did very well. I thought we did things with that show that aren’t normally seen on American television.”
