With Series 10 exactly one week away, a new video has been released today in which Pearl Mackie, Peter Capaldi and Steven Moffat introduce the new companion, Bill Potts.

According to her real life alter ego, Bill “doesn’t know very much about the world” but still “calls the Doctor out on a lot of things”, while the Twelfth Doctor actor has described her as “a regular human being” who “life hasn’t been great to”. The outgoing showrunner also explains how he approached her character in “a simple way”, as “somebody who asked a different bunch of questions”.

You can read the full interviews with Peter, Pearl and Steven – as well as one with Matt Lucas about all things Nardole – in the official media pack which was also released today.

Series 10 begins ONE WEEK today on BBC One at 7:20pm. Watch the new trailer »

He’s the man who will save your lives and when he does, you’ll spend the rest of your lives wondering who he was.

That man is, of course, the Doctor, who is also the subject of our Fan Art Friday this week, kindly sent in by @cnayloractor on Twitter. Pretty neat, huh? Eyebrows on fleek.

With less than two weeks to go until the Doctor is back on our screens, the BBC have released a new trailer for his upcoming adventures.

The 30 second teaser boasts an array of previously unseen clips, but it’s what happens at the very end that is particularly intriguing. We all know by now that Peter Capaldi will be bidding farewell to the TARDIS in the Christmas Special, but this latest development suggests that his regeneration may begin a lot sooner than expected. Unless, that is, it’s all just a red herring to get us all talking/throw us off the scent!

Needless to say, it has definitely succeeded on both of those counts! You can check it out in the player below, and let us know your thoughts and theories in the comments. Whether you like it or not, the end of the Twelfth Doctor is a-comin’. After this, though, we’re not exactly sure when. We’re sure you’ll agree, this has got Steven Moffat written all over it…

Peter Capaldi is interviewed in today’s Sunday Times in which he confirms that this year’s Christmas Special – AKA, his final episode as the Doctor – will be filmed in July.

The actor will be stepping down from the iconic role after three series and revealed that he’ll “quite possibly” burst into tears when the time comes to vacate the TARDIS this summer. “I’ve cried already – no, not really,” he said. “But they’re such a nice group of people, so I’ll miss them terribly. And, you know, it’s the end of something. I’ve never done anything for this long before.”

He added: “It is connected to my childhood, plus it brings this warm response from people and children, fans of all different stripes. It’s a magical thing. But then suddenly, it’s over…”

But not quite yet! Peter returns as the Doctor for his final full series on Saturday 15th April.

Toby Whithouse has revealed his ideal candidate for the 13th Doctor in a new interview with Digital Spy.

The writer, who recently confirmed that he’s penned the final instalment of an upcoming Series 10 three-parter, suggested that Being Human actor Damien Molony would be “terrific” as Peter Capaldi’s successor in the iconic role. “He’s a fantastic actor,” he said. “He would be my choice, or Chiwetel Ejiofor.”

He added that while it will be “a real shame” to see Peter go, he fully understands his decision to vacate the TARDIS.

He explained: “He’s been absolutely incredible as the Doctor, and he’s just the loveliest guy you’ll ever meet. He came on to the show to work with Steven Moffat, so I get it. But he’s an amazing ambassador. It’s something that’s been so important to him his whole life, so he understands the importance of the show and appreciates how treasured and loved it is.”

We couldn’t have put it better ourselves! Are you familiar with Damien Moloney’s work? Do you agree that he would make a terrific Time Lord? Share your thoughts in the comments…

Red Nose Day is back this month and so is their auction, which is offering a once in a lifetime opportunity for Doctor Who fans.

Seriously, it’s the stuff that Whovian dreams are made of.

In the not too distant future, seven Doctors – Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, David Tennant, Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi – will be sitting down for a full English breakfast at The Wolseley in London, and there are four unreserved seats up for grabs…

Two of them will be claimed by the highest bidders, while the other two will be picked at random from a prize draw of ticket holders, for those of us who don’t have a spare £10,000 (and then some!) lying around. A single ticket can be purchased now for £5, with multiple packages on offer to increase your odds. All of the money will go towards Comic Relief and its associated charities to help people who are living difficult lives across the UK and Africa.

Good luck to those who will be bidding, and may the odds be forever in your favour if you’ll be entering the raffle. Red Nose Day is on Friday 24th March. Find out more about it, here.

John Barrowman recently caught up with the Doctor Who Fan Show to talk about his return as Captain Jack in a new Big Finish audio range.

The conversation inevitably turned to Doctor Who, as the actor admitted that he’d love to see how his on screen alter ego would react to the Twelfth Doctor. “I’d like to see Peter’s Doctor meet Jack,” he said. “The Doctor is a little bit older now, so it would be perfect. Plus, Jack has matured a little bit. Would that spark still be there? Would Jack still feel the same way about him?”

Speculation surrounding Jack’s return to Doctor Who is always ongoing, as are rumours regarding Torchwood’s televisual comeback. Last year, he revealed that he was in talks to end its prolonged hiatus, however plans have yet to develop any further. He explained: “I travel around the world and see how much Torchwood is still loved and how much people want it back. I’m really trying to push for it, but Big Finish is a great way to keep it alive.”
