potd_busWhovians rejoice! The official Planet of the Dead trailer has just had its anticipated debut on BBC One!

The preview, which was also shown earlier on BBC HD, featured a mash-up of new clips from the Easter special, which will transmit on BBC One and BBC HD at 6:45PM on Saturday 11th April 2009.

The episode, written by Russell T Davies and co-written by Gareth Roberts, sees a London bus take a detour to an alien world, where the Doctor must join forces with the extraordinary Lady Christina to fight the planet’s terrifying secrets, hidden in the sand. But time is running out. The deadly Swarm are getting closer…

potd_busThe BBC Press Office has finally confirmed the airdate for this year’s Doctor Who Easter special, Planet of the Dead!

The episode will transmit on BBC One and BBC HD on Saturday 11th April 2009 at 6:45PM, and will run for 60 minutes.

The first trailer for the episode appeared on BBC HD earlier today, and a second will play out on BBC One at 8.55PM tonight, just before The Apprentice. Tune in so you don’t miss it, and don’t forget to come back here afterwards to watch it again and leave your thoughts in our trailer discussion – see you then!

potd_busBBC HD have aired an exclusive 56-second preview of Planet of the Dead!

The fantastic trailer appeared on the channel earlier today, and features brand new clips from the Easter special, which stars David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor and ex-EastEnders actress Michelle Ryan as Lady Christina. Comedian Lee Evans also guest stars as Malcolm. You can watch the video below!s

It certainly does look epic, and don’t forget to tune into BBC One tonight at around 8.55PM, just before this week’s Apprentice, because a trailer (a new one perhaps?) is set to air! The countdown begins!

The cover for the 407th issue of Doctor Who Magazine has been released online. Naturally, the issue boasts a fantastic Planet of the Dead themed cover, and no doubt the inside will be just as jam-packed with features and interviews regarding the anticipated Easter special!

potd_busIt has been claimed that the first trailer for Planet of the Dead will air on BBC One this coming Wednesday, just before this week’s episode of The Apprentice at 9PM.

The trailer will be our first official glimpse of the special, which is due to transmit on BBC One/HD over Easter Weekend. The episode sees a London bus take a detour to a mysterious alien world, where the Doctor must join forces with the extraordinary Lady Christina to fight the planet’s terrifying secrets. But time is running out…

There’s been no official word from the BBC regarding the trailer, but tune into BBC One at around 8.55PM on Wednesday 1st April to see if it turns out to be true!

potd_busThe BBC Press Office was today updated with scheduling information for Easter weekend, strongly pointing towards either an Easter Saturday, April 11th, or Easter Sunday, April 12th, transmission date for Planet of the Dead.

“When a London bus takes a detour to an alien world, the Doctor must join forces with the extraordinary Lady Christina, in this one-off seasonal special.

But the mysterious planet holds terrifying secrets, hidden in the sand. And time is running out, as the deadly Swarm gets closer…”

Although an exact airtime hasn’t been announced yet, the website has released the official synopsis for the episode, which stars David Tennant as the Doctor, Michelle Ryan as Lady Christina and Lee Evans as Malcolm.

The episode is written by Russell T Davies and Gareth Roberts.

potd_busThe first of this year’s Doctor Who specials, Planet of the Dead, will air on Easter Sunday, according to Sky’s listings magazine.

Sky Mag has put down the transmission date for the episode as being April 12th 2009, meaning that the episode will air on the Sunday rather than the Saturday.

A preview of the episode, which is the first in the show’s history to be filmed in HD, was shown at the Millenium Stadium during the recent Six Nations Rugby match. It’s believed that the same trailer will debut on our screens this weekend – either before or after the first episode of the new series of Robin Hood.

Please bear in mind that although this broadcast date is likely, it’s still yet to be finalised by the BBC. Stick with us!

planet-of-the-dead-dvd-set-for-may-release

Planet of the Dead hasn’t even hit our screens yet, but already its DVD release has been set for May 11th 2009.

The episode, which will air on BBC One and BBC HD at Easter, is written by Russell T Davies and Gareth Roberts, and sees the Doctor and Lady Christina de Souza board a bus which takes a sudden detour into danger…

Please bear in mind that the current DVD release date is subject to change until a final transmission date is confirmed!

As well as boasting a Planet of the Dead themed cover, this month’s issue of SFX also features an exclusive interview with Russell T Davies!

In the interview, the executive producer discusses the topic that’s dominating the minds of every Whovian in the cosmos: the sudden but inevitable demise of the Tenth Doctor.

Regarding this year’s string of special episodes, Davies confirms what was already widely speculated. After Planet of the Dead airs this Easter, the remaining three episodes will transmit over the Christmas period and towards the end of 2009. And according to him, the last three episodes are linked in more ways than one…
