the-doctor-i-deadline-so-what-happens-next

The deadline for The Doctor & I has arrived which means we are no longer accepting contributions.

Firstly we’d like to say a bigger on the inside “THANK YOU!” to everyone who has supported the project over the last few months. Whether you helped spread the word or contributed to the project directly, or both, we really couldn’t have done any of it without the help and enthusiasm – particular thanks go to David-Tennant.com, Kasterborous, TVCriticAmy, Chris Jones Gaming and The Doctor Who Site!

So what happens now? Over the coming weeks we’ll be working our little socks off (think of us as elves in Santa’s workshop except taller and wearing Fezzes!) to get the book all set for release. We’re aiming to get it out in time for the 50th anniversary but its exact release and price is still to be determined. Suffice to say we’ve got a mighty yet exciting task on our hands as we make our way through the entries (all 150+ of them) with each one serving as a heartfelt reminder of just what makes our Whovian family so fantastic.

And that’s what it’s all about, right? We set out to make a worldwide Whovian celebration and with entries ranging from the UK to the USA, to Canada, Australia, Russia and more, we can’t wait to show you the finished product – we will try and include all of them if we can and we’ll contact you to give you the thumbs up. 150+ to read, so please bear with!

Thanks again and watch this space for development updates over the coming months – we’ll leave you with this brilliantly creative entry from YouTuber AmandasChronicles

Our 50th anniversary project deadline is fast approaching as you’ve now got just over a week left to get involved!

To commemorate the Doctor’s half a century milestone, we set out to compile a book of stories and memoirs to mark 50 years of our Doctor Who fandom.

Whovians have been invited to contribute their essays and accounts detailing their own introduction to the fandom, and we’ve been absolutely blown away by the response.

We’ve so far received over 100 entries from all over the world, including the UK, the US, Canada, the Netherlands, France, Norway, Germany, Australia, the Philippines to Dubai – as we approach the deadline we just wanted to say a big thanks for your help thus far!

It truly is heartwarming to read all of your Doctor & I tales and we’re confident the final product will serve as a global celebration of a fantabulous fandom. But it ain’t over yet…

You’ve still got time (8 days to be precise!) to get involved, so for full entry details check out our Doctor & I section HERE. If you’re more of a camera savvy being, you can also get involved by recording a short YouTube vlog to tell us your memories of the Doctor.

After the deadline we’ll read through all the contributions and get back to the successful entrants. After that, we will bring you more details about the release of the book and let you know how you’ll be able to purchase your own copy – stick with us for all the latest!

If you’ve any questions/queries please get in touch at thedoctorandi@whoviannet.co.uk.

calling-all-vloggers-the-doctor-i-youtube

Last week we announced The Doctor & I, an anniversary project to make a celebratory book filled with your Whovian stories and memoirs.

We are beyond thrilled with the response it’s had so far, so a huge thanks for the support. We’re excited to reveal that we’ve now extended contributions to the world of YouTube, so if you’re a budding vlogger, this one’s for you!

We want you to share your Doctor & I story in vlog form.

Your vlog should be 5-10 minutes in length and detail your introduction to the Whovian fandom in your own original and creative way – creativity is the key! We’re looking for well scripted, well edited and generally well executed vlogs and once you’ve submitted it, we’ll create a transcript of your video which will then be included in the finished book.

Basically, you do the talkin’ then the rest is down to us! Once complete, send us the URL to your video to thedoctorandi@whoviannet.co.uk or on our Twitter @WhovianNet.

Of course you don’t have to be an avid vlogger to participate – perhaps this has inspired you to speak in front of the camera for the first time, which is even better. Get involved!

We look forward to watching your vlogs! You can find out more about this project HERE.

We’ve all got a “The Doctor & I” story. It’s time to tell yours.

As you will all know 23rd November 2013 will mark 50 years of Doctor Who, as well as half a century of its accompanying fandom that continues to be a big part of all of our lives.

Although all of our journeys with the Doctor start at different times his ongoing adventures continue to unite millions of us all around the world as we discuss, debate and share in his voyage through through time and space.

As part of our 50th anniversary festivities, we want to how your Whovian journey began.

We’re inviting you to submit your own essays (but they’re not really essays – essays are NOT cool!) detailing your personal introduction to the Doctor Who fandom – how did it all begin for you? What initially got you hooked? How has your life been affected since? We are particularly looking for accounts that are special, moving and, mostly, unique to you.

Basically, we want to know what being a Whovian means to YOU – whether you’ve been following the Doctor since Day 1 or accidentally stumbled upon his recent adventures at 4 in the morning on Netflix, we want to hear from you, in essay/report/diary/story style.

And here comes the really cool bit: these Whovian stories will be collated into a special commemorative book which you’ll be able to buy later this year. This book will serve as a celebration of our fandom that has been 50 years in the making with stories from fans worldwide, young and old, as we come together to mark the show’s huge 50th birthday…

We’re very excited about this project and hope you all get involved to help us build up to the big day in style. We’ll bring you updates soon – keep up to date with the latest here.
