Well. There we are then. At the time of posting this article, we’re hours away from the opening titles of part two of The End of Time, which means that the next time we update, the Tenth Doctor will be no more, and a new era will be upon us.
In October 2008, when it was announced that David Tennant would be leaving, our inital concern was how the show would continue without him at the helm…
Not only is he an amazing actor, but he has also been a truly amazing ambassador for the series since he landed the iconic role in 2005, and, with his last episode imminent, we just want to thank him (again!) for his hard work, commitment and dedication over the last few years. It was his portrayal of the Doctor that inspired us to create a fansite back in 2006, so you could say that WhovianNet is all because of him!
And, of course, goodbye to head writer Russell T Davies and executive producer Julie Gardner, too, who are the people particularly responsible for making the series what it is today. We’ll miss you so much!
So, we’ve had 3 amazing series with the Tenth Doctor, and when he was introduced at the end of the The Parting of the Ways with the words “New teeth, that’s weird…” (one of Russell’s finest!), who would’ve thought that, 4 years down the line, his regeneration would be one of the most eagerly anticipated moments in British television history?
And to mark his long-awaited finale, we’ve brought you around-the-clock news coverage, downloads, discussions, The Christmas Project, his top ten moments, but it all comes down to this. Questions will be answered, lives will be lost, sacrifices will be made, and make sure you’re back here afterwards at 7:55PM (GMT) on the dot to share in the epic journey with us and your fellow fans!
The only thing left for us to say is: are you ready? It’s going to be an unforgettable 75 minutes. Enjoy the show folks, and cherish this epic moment!
See you all on the other side.

According to an article published by The Sun newspaper today, the BBC are expecting an audience of around 12million to tune in for David Tennant’s last ever Doctor Who outing tonight.
The concluding instalment of The End of Time will have its official debut at 6:40PM on BBC1/HD, and his long-awaited regeneration into the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) will undoubtedly be a ratings smash…
But we’ll have to wait until tomorrow (Saturday) morning to find out for sure, when the release of the initial overnight figures will reveal whether or not the historic feature-length episode lived up to, or maybe even exceeded, its estimate. Not long now everyone!

Tissues at the ready, folks! The day that has been highlighted on Whovian calendars across the land has finally arrived, and as such David Tennant has given his last EVER interview as the Tenth Doctor. It had to happen eventually!
“It feels like we’ve been building up to this episode for 4 and a half years,” the actor told BBC News Entertainment Correspondent Lizo Mzimba. “This is the moment we’ve been heading towards, and it feels very exciting. I’m really excited for people to see it, but it’ll be odd once it’s gone.”
He added: ”It’s quite an all-consuming thing and Doctor Who is a big part of my life, and everyday it impacts on my life in some way. To be saying farewell to the sharp end of that is peculiar. I don’t know how it’ll feel in 6 months time, but right now I’m just really excited about this last story going out.”
And his last ever episode airs TONIGHT on BBC1/HD at 6:40PM, and our discussion will be online from 7:55PM (GMT). We’ve come this far together – join us and other visitors as we bid farewell to the Tenth Doctor. Its been a blast, hasn’t it?
Check out the countdown everyone.
0 days. Can you believe it?
It doesn’t get much bigger than this…
As you’ll all know all too well, tomorrow not only marks the beginning of a new year, but also the beginning of a new era, as the Tenth Doctor bows out in part two of The End of Time. And BBC HD viewers are in for a treat, because the channel will be showing ALL of his 2009 highlights back to back!
The marathon kicks off at 1:40PM with his appearance in Series 3 of The Sarah Jane Adventures, The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith.
Then, the Easter special, Planet of the Dead, will be repeated at 2:35PM, followed by its accompanying edition of Doctor Who Confidential, Desert Storm, at 3:35PM. After that, The Waters of Mars will inundate your screens once more at 4:35PM, followed by a repeat of last week’s opening instalment of The End of Time at 5:40PM…
All of this is, of course, leading into the main event – the colossal finale, The End of Time, Part Two, which will debut at 6:40PM, broadcast simultaneously on BBC1. Its Confidential, Allons-y!, will round off the occasion at 7:55PM on both BBC HD and BBC3. BBC3 will also be reliving the Tenth Doctor’s greatest moments from 8:55PM!
Deep breaths, everyone! We’ve nearly made it - hang on in there!

Don’t worry – the Master isn’t up to his old tricks! David Tennant treated fans with not one but two appearances on breakfast television in the UK this morning, being interviewed on both BBC Breakfast and GMTV ahead of the broadcast of his final ever episode tomorrow night.
It’s safe to say that the regeneration is the talk of the nation (and quite right too!), and the actor promises that viewers will still be shocked by some of the plot twists to come in part two of The End of Time…
“The Doctor’s been told that he’s going to die, and he knows he’s going to die,” he told BBC Breakfast. “So you get to play that new flavour with this character that you’ve got to know so well, and suddenly you’re playing a man who knows his end is coming.”
He added: “When you find out what [the four knocks] really means, it just breaks your heart. It’s brilliant.”
Meanwhile, over on GMTV he commented: “I’ve been talking about it for 4 years. This morning is the last time I’ll be on television talking about a new episode of Doctor Who. That’s quite a weird thought. But it’s my final moment. This is it. The Tenth Doctor is leaving the building.”

Last month we brought you news of BBC Radio 2’s exclusive 60-minute interview, Who on Who?, between David Tennant and Russell T Davies, who both bid farewell to Doctor Who as the Tenth Doctor and showrunner with the transmission of The End of Time, Part Two on New Year’s Day.
The programme aired earlier today, and is now available to listen to again for the next 7 days on the BBC’s iPlayer service.
In the chat, Tennant questions Davies about everything Doctor Who, including his thoughts on its new showrunner, Steven Moffat, whether or not he would ever consider writing for the programme again, and how he originally declined the BBC’s offer to produce a series based around a young Doctor studying at the Time Lord Academy.
Their final episode will screen in the UK this Friday at 6:40PM on BBC One/HD.
Overnight figures show that an unofficial audience of 10.3million tuned in for the first part of The End of Time on BBC One last night, a 42.2% share of the total television audience.
The figure means that Doctor Who was the third most watched programme of Christmas Day, behind EastEnders, which achieved 10.86million (45.9%), and The Royle Family, which was watched by 10.23million (42.5%).
The festive special of The Catherine Tate Show, Nan’s Christmas Carol, came 7th, as it was watched by 7.13million, a 36.2% share.
Meanwhile, 576,200 (2.5%) watched the latest edition of Doctor Who Confidential, Lords and Masters, on BBC3, making it the 4th most watched multichannel programme.
Official ratings will be released by BARB in 10 days. The Tenth Doctor’s final adventure concludes on New Year’s Day at 6:40PM on BBC1/HD.

In the meantime, the official Doctor Who website has the next time trailer revealed at the end of part one, a new TV trailer that will be airing across various BBC wavelengths throughout the next week, and a stunning new 2-minute clip taken straight from the upcoming episode!
In part two, the Doctor faces the end of his life as the Master’s plans hurtle out of control. With the sound of drums growing louder, an ancient trap closes around the Earth, and the Doctor and Wilf must fight alone.
