your-scariest-doctor-who-scene-revealed

Halloween might have been and gone for another year but we’re keeping the festivities alive a little while longer by revealing what WhovianNet visitors have voted as their scariest Doctor Who scene of all time.

And guess what? The Weeping Angels have done it again. With 42% of the final vote, our readers have chosen the spine-chilling scene from The Time of Angels which saw Amy Pond stuck in a staring showdown with a Weeping Angel. This time, though, the Angel was on a screen, seemingly harmless in the CCTV footage in which it was confined…

Yeah, right! It was the moment that the Eleventh Doctor – along with the 9 million viewers watching from behind their sofas at home – learned that the image of an angel becomes an angel, and it changed everything we thought we knew about the sinister statues. We’re still not over it and, evidently, neither are you! We’ll just leave a little something for you here…

Thanks to everyone who voted. Don’t have nightmares, and whatever you do, don’t blink…

competition-your-who-costumes-pumpkins

It’s Hallow’s Eve which means that the spookiest day of the year is almost upon us; a time for pumpkins, trick or treating, and dressing up as our favourite Doctor Who characters and monsters!

Ok, so that last one is pretty much every day of the year, but at least on Halloween we can go to a party dressed up as an Ood and not be the weirdest looking one in the room. It really is the most wonderful time of the year. To celebrate the season, we want to see all your Doctor Who inspired costumes and pumpkins.

We know how much Whovians like to get creative with their festivities, so please send us pictures of your handiwork to admin@whoviannet.co.uk. We want to see your timey-wimey fancy dress and pumpkin carvings and our favourite one will win an awesome bundle of prizes, including a copy of The Drosten’s Curse by A.L. Kennedy and two Big Finish downloads, Dracula starring Mark Gatiss and Frankenstein starring Arthur Darvill.

The giveaway is open worldwide and you have until 1pm GMT on Friday 4th November 2016 to send in your pictures. The winner will be contacted by email on Saturday 5th November 2016. Now the boring bits are out of the way, we look forward to your entries!

vote-for-your-scariest-doctor-who-scene

It’s the eve of Halloween which means that our mission to discover the scariest moment in Doctor Who history is almost complete!

There’s still one vital step to go until we can reveal the all-important results, however, and that’s the final vote off which will determine which spine-chilling scene still possesses the power to send you screaming behind the sofa (or hiding behind your cushion, depending on how lazy you are). Thanks to everyone for all your suggestions, the most popular of which we’ve compiled into a poll below.

Cast your votes and the results will be revealed this week. Things are gonna get spooky

This poll is now closed. Thanks to everybody who voted!

wholoween-spooktacular-2016-scariest-scene

Halloween is just around the corner which means that it’s time for us to get into the spirit of the season once again with the return of our Who’loween Spooktacular!

Over the years our frightfully fun festivities have included a countdown of the Scariest Episode and the Scariest Enemy, both of which were taken home by the Weeping Angels with landslide majorities of the votes. In fact, we even held a rematch back in 2014 which they won again, so they really are the ones to beat. That could all change this year, though, as we bring you… the Scariest Scene!

But we need your help to find out what that is. Doctor Who is acclaimed for traumatising generations and, while there’s admittedly only so much it can get away with at 7pm on a Saturday night, it’s safe to say that the series has become progressively darker over recent years and it never shies away from pushing the boundaries of teatime telly to the extreme.

With that in mind, we want to know what YOU think has been the scariest scene in Doctor Who to date. It’s been on for over 50 years so you’re definitely not stuck for choice, but we’ve all got that one scene or sequence that caught us off guard and still succeeds in sending a shiver down our spine. All right, so there’s more than one. Narrow it down, ok?!

Your scene can be from any episode, from any series, from any Doctor, and all you have to do is post it in the comments below, or tweet us @WhovianNet. Next week we’ll open up a poll featuring your most popular suggestions for the final round of voting, which will close on Halloween. So, what are you waiting for, eh?! Leave your comments below, if you dare…
