A brand new series means a brand new array of music from score supremo Murray Gold – and it doesn’t disappoint!

In keeping with Series 7’s “blockbuster” motif, Gold’s music in our hero’s latest adventures effortlessly compliments and emphasises all the drama and emotions on screen. From the dark shadows of the Daleks’ Asylum to the rooftop of a New York sky scraper, these cinematic and memorable melodies continue to add a new level of sophistication to the series and its ever increasing quality and scale.

Particular stand out tracks on the album include Oswin Oswald which made its debut with Jenna Coleman in Asylum of the Daleks, Together Or Not At All: The Song of Amy and Rory, the ominous track – performed by Halia Meguid – which played over Amy and Rory’s tear-jerking sacrifice in The Angels Take Manhattan and The Long Song, the inspirational song that accompanied the Doctor’s speech in The Rings of Akhaten. And if you’re ever in the mood for a fairytale, we recommend you listen to Clara?, which will bring back fond memories of the impossible girl looking for the TARDIS in the snow…

Overall the Series 7 soundtrack, released by Silva Screen Records, is another classic for the collection which affirms Murray Gold’s status as one of the best TV composers today.

The BBC has announced the Doctor’s most iconic enemies, the Daleks, will be returning for the 50th anniversary.

The metal monsters made their first appearance in the show in 1963 and were last seen in Asylum of the Daleks.

This time they’ll encounter not one, not two but THREE Time Lords as they appear on screen alongside Matt Smith, David Tennant and John Hurt as the Doctor in the 3D special which will be shown on TV and in cinemas this November.

Steven Moffat commented: “The Doctor once said you can judge a man by the quality of his enemies. It’s fitting in this special episode he’ll be facing the greatest enemies of all.”

The Daleks return - are you glad to see them back?

Clara is summoned to an impossible conference call, alerting her that the deadly Whisper Men are closing in on Vastra, Jenny and Strax. Someone is kidnapping the Doctor’s friends, leading him toward the one place in all of time and space that he should never go.

So there we have it. Series 7 reached its huge climax tonight as secrets were revealed.

It was the one we have all been waiting for with the hours of anticipation and speculation all leading up to this moment. The question on everybody’s lips has been “Clara who?” and we’ve all been concocting our own theories as to who this “impossible” girl might be after we met in Asylum of the Daleks. Unlike the Doctor, we were expecting her to pop up again in The Snowmen, and he has been on a mission of discovery ever since…

As well as that, the Doctor had to deal with the consequences of his “greatest secret”, which laid hanging in the balance as the Great Intelligence returned to lead him towards the one place in time and space he should never visit. Ready and waiting for our Time Lord at the fields of Trenzalore was a trap ready to unravel his past, present and future.

On paper The Name of the Doctor was an epic adventure which spanned the history of the series itself, as everything was set in place for the next time we see the Doctor later this year in November’s 50th anniversary extravaganza (no biggie!). So what did you make of tonight’s events? It is said they’ll “change the course of Who” forever, but is it a change for the better? Were the answers we got a worthy pay off? And what about that ending – the “moment of all moments”? There is lots to be said about the finale – and then some – and one place to do it so discuss all the drama below. Spoilers!

Stick with us as we bring you all the post-Series 7 news and prepare for something big…

Doctor Who loves a good old fashioned mystery and if there is anything we, the fans, love, it is dissecting and unraveling all the clues and red herrings that come our way.

With the Doctor’s latest companion Clara Oswald, Christmas has well and truly come early – actually it did, when Jenna-Louise Coleman made a surprise appearance in Asylum of the Daleks some three months before her expected debut. Since the soufflé girl arrived on our screens, we have been caught up in her character and ‘The Clara Oswald Mystery’.

So, who is Clara Oswald? Jenna has described her alter ego as “mysterious” but that’s just the icing on the cake. How can the same person – or different versions of the same person – keep popping up in the Doctor’s life? Steven Moffat has she will lead the Time Lord on “his merriest dance yet”, so will her identity have anything to do with his big and “greatest secret” that will be revealed during the new series? Only time will tell…

Que Sera, Sera, but whatever happens, judging by this latest trailer, the Doctor is just as eager to find out the truth as we are, and you can use this discussion to share with us and each other your wide speculation and theories. A link will be added to the sidebar so you can contribute to the comments as Clara’s story develops over the coming months.

Get involved, join the conversation, have fun, watch out for spoilers, “and remember”…
