Planet of the Dead DVD Set For May Release

Planet of the Dead hasn’t even hit our screens yet, but already its DVD release has been set for May 11th 2009.
The episode, which will air on BBC One and BBC HD at Easter, is written by Russell T Davies and Gareth Roberts, and sees the Doctor and Lady Christina de Souza board a bus which takes a sudden detour into danger…
Please bear in mind that the current DVD release date is subject to change until a final transmission date is confirmed!

Yeh, I remember reading this last week! =) I probably wont buy it until there is a specials boxset. (if there is one anyway!)

Pirko, as far as we know, 2|Entertain ARE planning to release a boxset of all of the 2009/10 specials, including The Next Doctor. It’s likely that each of them will be released in individual volumes as well, like the full series. We’ll keep you updated though!

accordin to play, its released on the 25th of May 2009. Plays got it right before but it most probably wont be bang on since the programme hasnt even been on tv yet.
Thanks for the information! Different retailers have different release dates at the moment - we’re just going by what we’ve been told. As we mentioned above, the date we reported is isn’t crystal until, as you say, the episode has aired.
I think there will be an updated version of the Series four DVD box set with episodes 14 to 18 added. The discs could have new exclusive designs and each epsode could be on these discs:
DISC 1: Xmas Spec 07, Episodes 1 & 2
DISC 3: Episodes 3, 4, 5 & 6
DISC 4: Episodes 7, 8, 9 & 10
DISC 5: Episodes 11, 12, 13 & 14
DISC 6: Episodes 15, 16, 17 & 18
DISC 7: Extras (Time Crash, Dr Who Prom, etc)
DISC 8: Confidential Cutdowns
Now that would be a collectors edition! anyway, the Planet of the Dead DVD could have the Sarah Jane Adv. Comic Relief special and it’s confidential cutdown on the disc as extras!
