Filming for finale continues in Swansea

April 14th, 2009

catherine_filming_swansea_130409Filming for this year’s finale is well underway in sunny Wales, and David Tennant, Catherine Tate and Bernard Cribbins were pictured on location in Swansea yesterday filming scenes for the anticipated two-parter.

The street was dressed with Christmas decorations, trees and lights, and Tate shot a scene involving her character, Donna, walking down the road holding a few shopping bags (a spot of last minute Christmas shopping, perhaps?)

The episodes, written by Russell T Davies, will transmit on BBC One and BBC HD over Christmas and the New Year, and will mark the end of Tennant’s run as the Tenth Doctor. In the story, his incarnation will regenerate into his eleventh, played by Matt Smith.

And Tate and Cribbins aren’t the only familiar faces who will be popping up during the Tenth Doctor’s final adventure… Last week, Lis Sladen and Tommy Knight, also known as Sarah Jane Smith and Luke, were filming, and John Simm (tap-tap-tap-tap!) was also pictured on set. Could the return of some other old friends also be on the cards..?

Can we please confirm whether the photo of John Simm was actually credible? Most of what I’ve heard seems to indicate that it’s a rubbish photo that could be of anyone.

Glad S-J and Luke are back. They’re wasted on that spin-off, especially Lis Sladen. Even if I do love a good bit of SJA.

It’s John Simm, but the image is apparently photoshopped. Someone took a photo of him and pasted it over an image of Bernard on set, hence the reason why John doesn’t have a shadow in the image.

Thanks for the clarification. So the Master, if he does come back, most probably won’t be in Simm’s incarnation. Shame, that, I loved him.

Oh no, John Simm is returning, but we’re not sure if he’s returning as the Master.
