Freema: “Matt Smith will be outstanding”

April 3rd, 2009

freema_martha_twFreema Agyeman has revealed that she’s more than happy with the BBC’s choice of casting for the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith.

The actress, who played the Doctor’s companion, Martha Jones, in Series 3 and 4, told DigitalSpy that she’s confident Smith will be outstanding when he takes on the role for Series 5 in 2010.

“He’s great. I can imagine there must have been a fair few people up for that role,” she said. ”For the producers to have such confidence in him, he must clearly have blown them away.”

She added: “He’s a really good actor in all the other things he’s done. I think he’s going to be outstanding.”

Filming for Series 5 will begin in July.

I haven’t seen Matt act before but i hope he will be just as good as Tennant was and still is! :D

It mildly irritates me when people complain about a Doctor they haven’t even seen yet, which loads of people seem to do. Personally, I trust the execs and cannot wait!

I think that Matt Smith will also be outstanding as the 11th Doctor!! I’ve seen him in a few things, and I think he’s a fantastic actor. I think he will put a different spin on the Doctor. It will be fresh and new and exciting!

I love David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, and I will miss him, but I am definitely looking forward to seeing Matt’s portrayal!
