Wilf confirmed as Tenth Doctor’s final companion

April 7th, 2009

wilfred_mottRussell T Davies has confirmed that Donna’s granddad, Wilfred Mott, played by Bernard Cribbins, will be filling the role of the Doctor’s companion for the last two specials.

The executive producer revealed the news during an interview with BBC Breakfast this morning, meaning that Cribbins takes home the title of being the oldest Doctor Who companion in the show’s history.

But the announcement has sparked speculation that Catherine Tate will only be seen in the episodes in short cameo appearances, however the BBC has yet to comment on Tate’s involvement in the story, which will sadly mark the end of David Tennant’s run as the Tenth Doctor.

We could pretty much tell from the set reports and pictures that Wilf had a main role and Donna only appeared briefly.
