David to play the Doctor in movie?
David Tennant will be back as the Tenth Doctor for the Doctor Who movie, according to a report in My Park Magazine.
According to the website, the actor will be reprising the role of the Time Lord for the big screen adventure even though he’s leaving the show at the end of the year.
“The script is still in the early stages but he wants to be in the film,” a BBC Films source has been quoted as saying. “There have already been discussions and David needs to feel the story is right, but right now things are looking very positive.
“Potentially it’s a perfect scenario for him. He understandably wants to do different roles but still loves Doctor Who.”
Earlier this week, the BBC confirmed a Doctor Who film was in its very early stages of development, and since then, the rumours have been rife about who will be playing the Doctor if it gets the green light.
The source added: “It’s certainly feasible that David could be the Doctor on film while Matt does the series. As all fans know David’s story can easily be set in a different time to Matt’s. That’s one of the great things about the show - anything can happen.”

Yes, he does. We all do. That’s the only thing that I’m worried about. I’ve always maintained that the writing is the most important thing in the making of any TV show or film. Of course, everything else is vital too, but the writing is the keystone. (Please bear in mind that I’m an amateur writer, so I’m probably overstating things). Because it’s RTD writing, I think we’re relatively safe because he loves DW, but I would still worry that the producers would feel the need to sensationalise the story for the big screen. There you run the risk of betraying what is Who, and that is what we need to avoid.
Would that be possible if he has left as the 10th Doc? Maybe it will be the same senario as the Children in Need clip - The Time Crash? Where the 11th Doctor & 10th Doctor are both alive?
Im still not sure whether a movie would be a good idea but if they did one then I would love David to do one! An extra bit of Ten? We already have an extra bit of him because he is in SJA this year, so even more would be fantastic!
I suppose they could tell the story of him and River Song or Duplicate10 and Rose, or it would be good if they made a film about the eighth doctor and the time war!
Simple. Just say “this is set between and ” Problem solved.

The story of Duplicate10 and Rose? I hadn’t even thought of that. That would be great!!! As would your suggestion about the Time War. I for one am curious about why he had to regenerate into number nine. Can we have a flashback?
