Children of Earth UK airdate confirmed!
The BBC Press Office has at long last confirmed that Torchwood: Children of Earth will air in the United Kingdom in television Week 27 (July 4th to July 10th 2009).
While all five episodes are currently “Unplaced” on the BBC One schedule, it’s safe to assume that the mini-series will air from Monday 6th July through to Friday 10th July, and probably at 9pm each night.
As well as that, the website also gives a brief synopsis for each part, which you can read below:
Children of Earth: Day One - Monday 6th July (TBA)
An ordinary day becomes one of terror, as every single child in the world stops. A message is sent to all the governments of Earth: “We are coming.” But, as a trap closes around Captain Jack, the sins of the past are returning and long-forgotten events from 1965 threaten to reveal an awful truth.
Torchwood is forced underground as the government takes swift and brutal action. As members of the team are hunted down, Britain risks becoming a rogue state. Meanwhile, the mysterious and powerful 456 draws ever-closer.
Captain Jack, Gwen and Ianto are helpless as events escalate to such a degree that mankind faces the end of civilisation itself.
Children of Earth: Day Two - Tuesday 7th July (TBA)
As the new Torchwood adventure continues, the team is forced underground when the government takes swift and brutal action. With members of the team being hunted down, only Lois holds the key to Torchwood’s salvation. But she is helpless as her superiors make plans for the mysterious Floor 13.
Children of Earth: Day Three - Wednesday 8th July (TBA)
The eyes of the world turn to Britain, as the 456 announce: “We are here,” as the new Torchwood adventure continues. As a pillar of fire descends upon London, the members of Torchwood must battle to protect their own families as the fight gets personal. But will Clem’s memories destroy everything?
Children of Earth: Day Four - Thursday 9th July (TBA)
Torchwood finally learns the truth about the events of 1965, as the adventure continues. But Britain is in danger of becoming a rogue state, and everything now pivots around John Frobisher, as the Ambassador of the 456 destroys its old allegiances and reveals its true intent.
Children of Earth: Day Five - Friday 10th July (TBA)
Torchwood is defenceless and Gwen Cooper stands alone, as the final sanction begins, in the last part of the new Torchwood adventure.
As violence erupts and the world descends into anarchy, an ordinary housing estate becomes a battleground, where the future of the human race will be decided.
Let the countdown commence!
Eighteen days!
Due to Hotel Babylon being on Friday 10th at 10pm, the Third Series is rumoured to begin on Sunday instead.
If it starts at 9 and is on for an hour it wont clash with Hotel Babylon
This is going to be totally amazing. I can’t wait.
It looks exciting! espcially the gwen blair witch style video, questioning the doctor. i cannot wait!
@Mass
It will. Hotel Babylon is on Friday at 9pm - for an hour, same as Day Five would be if it was on on Friday.
You yourself said its on at 10 so if Torchwood was on at 9 then whats the problem?
You’re contradicting yourself.
Now im confusing myself… if TORCHWOOD was on at 10, whats the problem?
Torchwood will be on at 9pm, mon to fri! everything clear now i think
@Mass
Instead of saying 9pm in post #2, I’d made a typo and said Hotel Babylon was on at 10pm. The BBC Press Office for Friday has Hotel Babylon down as 9pm, which would collide with Day Five of Children of Earth were they to air on the same day
well its still unplaced as yet, so it could be 10 yet for all we know
Ah, I see. I hope they don’t place it too late, and I think 10 would be too late. Torchwood has a lot of fans of a school age, and it would be a real pain if they had to miss it every night. Or if they were *supposed* to miss it every night…
@TSG
In fairness though torchwood is not a kids show, thats what dr who and sarah jane is for. For series 2 they had a pre watershed version of torchwood but i dont think that will happen this year as they plan to go much darker and gorier than before. I dont think it will be 10pm though because its to be shown on bbc one this time and that is when the news airs.
@pirko
I realise it’s not a kids’ show, but what’s the boundary? Thirteen? Fifteen? Both those age groups will still be in school. I’m sixteen, and I’ll be getting up at 6:30 to go to school every day, and you can bet my parents will be asking me to go to bed at ten “otherwise your sister will want to stay up, and don’t stay on that computer all night!” If it’s on any later, I’ll have to watch Torchwood at four or five o’ clock the next day, right where my younger sister can just walk into the room.
Basically, I want them to show it at nine!
I’m 15 and I will be up and still at school. I don’t care what time it will be on I will be watching it at any time it is on XD
@John
Well then, you’re very lucky with your parents. Or else you have a TV in your room. In which case, you’re still very lucky!
well I should also come out I watched footballers wives when I was 7 and bad girls when I was 8 so I have been aloud to watch loads of stuff
