Day One Overnight Ratings
Unofficial overnight ratings have been released for last night’s launch of Torchwood: Children of Earth, showing that the first episode of the new series was watched by an audience of 5.9million.
Not only is this the programme’s highest ever rating to date (which was inevitable with this year’s upgrade to BBC One), but it also means that it was the 5th most watched of the day. With a 25.8% share of the total television audience, it was also BBC1’s 2nd most watched programme of the day.
Official viewing figures - which will be somewhere in the region of 6/6.1million - will be released by BARB in 10 days time. If the ratings remain steady throughout the rest of the week, no doubt a fourth series will be given the green light, so keep watching!
Children of Earth continues tonight at 9:00PM on BBC One/HD, and don’t forget to come back here straight afterwards at 10:00PM to have your say in our Day Two discussion!
