The Streets’ Mike Skinner has surprised his Twitter followers by posting an update confirming that he has a part in Series 5 of Doctor Who.

“You wouldn’t believe the week I’ve had. I can’t talk about it but let’s just say I got a part in ‘Doctor Who’” the tweet read - but it was removed shortly after, being replaced by the post: “And just like that the tweet is deleted.”

No news as of yet who he’ll be playing in the new series, but it’s thought that it’ll be a cameo appearance, continuing the long line of celebrity appearances that have featured in the series, including McFly, Sharon Osbourne (The Sound of Drums) and Paul O’Grady (The Stolen Earth).
