Complete Specials collection set for January 2010 release

October 16th, 2009

tenth-doctor-2According to various online retailers, a DVD and Blu-ray boxset comprising all 4 of the Doctor Who 2009/10 Specials will be released on 11th January 2010!

Although it was inevitable that the final Tenth Doctor stories would be released together, the matter has been heavily discussed by fans for months, but now it appears that we have confirmation at long last!

So, taking the format of previous Doctor Who releases into account, we can assume that the boxset, which has been given an RRP price of £39.99, will contain Planet of the Dead, The Waters of Mars, the upcoming Christmas special and The End of Time spread out over 3/4 discs, and possibly maybe even a fifth disc of special features and/or the instalments of Doctor Who Confidential for each of the aforementioned episodes.

Please bear in mind that its release date is also subject to change. We won’t know for sure until the BBC confirm all the transmission details for the remaining specials. As always, we’ll keep you updated!

I will definitely get the DVD, and I’ll simply get THE NEXT DOCTOR separately, if it doesn’t appear on this set. Nice early time for it as well, so we can all prepare for the Eleventh Doctor / Amy period.

Galaxy 4 is also saying that the third series of Sarah Jane Adventures is coming out on 25 January 2010.

What a Winter that will be.

Yeah. Are you sure its not a typo. Just feels odd if The Next Doctor is not included

Key words in the post: “we can assume”. Maybe TND will be in the set! I certainly hope it is.

Bearing in mind that this set is coming out on Bluray as well, it would be understandable that TND wouldn’t be on it as it wasn’t filmed in HD.

Having said that, it would be better if TND was included as it is technically part of the 2009 specials and if it wasn’t on it, there would be only be the vanilla release, which would make it the odd one out, boxset wise. I mean, it’s not on the series one to four boxset, so it should be included here.

    @ chris

Thats a good point. The Next Doctor was not on HD so it may not be included but surely they can give it a digital re-mastering like they do with special editon dvds

Here’s hoping there’s a decent RTD/JG era docu included on this set. Something a little more substantial than the one that was included on Complete Series 4.

Oh and a few more extras as well ;)
