Discussion: Prisoner of the Judoon (Part II)

October 16th, 2009

prisoner-judoon-p1So, that’s that! Our first weekly double dose of Series 3 of The Sarah Jane Adventures comes to an end with the transmission of part 2 of Prisoner of the Judoon, which has just been broadcast on BBC One and BBC HD!

Following directly on from yesterday’s opening instalment, this afternoon’s episode saw Sarah Jane and the gang in a race against time to stop Androvax. One thing is for sure - they definitely returned to our screens with a bang!

But what did you think of the second episode, and the concluding part of the opening story? Feel free to share your thoughts below!

The Sarah Jane Adventures continues next week with The Mad Woman in the Attic. Don’t forget to bookmark our SJA mini-site for all the very latest!

I thought the episode was really funny :D

The awkward Judoon moments and Rani’s parents seeing aliens was really good!

Can’t wait for Mad woman in the Attic!

Wow! I thought it was a really good story. Next week’s episode looks good.

Next week’s story does indeed look good, because it’s quite psychological and in depth with one character. I like focused episodes.

There’s one thing that bugs me about the SJA, and that’s the persistent moral messages. Not them in themselves, but that they feel so forced. Luke argued against Androvax when the alien claimed that the ultimate purpose of the universe was destruction - he didn’t then need to bring it up with SJ. If Clyde had mentioned it “Ha! Purpose of the universe: destruction - I don’t think so!” and then SJ had begun her little speech about how brilliant the universe is, it would have flowed more naturally.

Other than that minor criticism, I very much enjoyed the episode, especially the humorous use of the Judoon.

Oh, here’s a thought. If the BBC is so keen to introduce morals into its stories, why is it condoning rule breaking as a sensible thing to do? Granted, only in certain circumstances (generally when the world is about to end) but still!

    A l’emission prochaine!

That was a lot better than last night’s ep. Lis’s possessed acting was very good and Ace and Mina were hilarious.

Really enjoyable story! Very funny in parts one and two and we saw a bit more of the Chandra family than we usually do. Great to see the Judoon back and actually quite like the Androvax. Certainly the scariest villains on SJA we’ve seen in a long time, which really shouldn’t be because I have a phobia to clowns and series two did nothing! :D

Next week looks really mysterious and intriguing!

It wasn’t a very strong conclusion for the story, but it was enjoyable and, as has previously been said, it was nice to see more of Gita and Haresh.

The idea of the Infinitesimal being the nanoforms was a cool one, same with Sarah Jane being possessed by the villain (Lis does a fantastic Evil Sarah Jane).

A relatively good start - worth a 3.5/5 as a whole - but, hopefully, the next story should be better what with it being an AU based around Rani.

My only real problem is the continual showing of the televised Series Three trailer at the start of every episode. Is it really needed?

Enjoyable ending, though I agree with TSG. Wonderful acting by Lis, and the Chandra family were hilarious! Loved the Judoon also. 6/10 for me. :D Overall episode 13/20. :)

    @Samuel
Unnecessary. If you can prove it, go ahead. If you can’t, don’t post it.

I have to say much as it’s good to have SJA back, these episodes weren’t exactly fantastic openers. I always find Elisabth Sladen very watchable but I did squirm a smidge when she wasn’t Sarah Jane ;)

I’m not saying I didn’t enjoy the episodes, I just didn’t enjoy them as much as I thought.

Te viewing figures are fairly average but I don’t think the producers will be worrying. I can sense SJA’s biggest ratings ever in a fortnight’s time.
