The BBC has today confirmed that they are currently in talks with Michael Moorcock to write a brand new Doctor Who novel to be released next year.

The acclaimed science fiction and fantasy author previously announced the news on his official website earlier this week.

“Looks like it’s official,” he wrote. “I’ll be doing a new Doctor Who novel for appearance, I understand, by next Christmas.”

It’s thought that the book will feature the Eleventh Doctor and Amy Pond, as to be played by Matt Smith and Karen Gillan in the upcoming fifth series, which will air from Easter 2010. We’ll keep you updated!
