It is time.
Well. There we are then. At the time of posting this article, we’re hours away from the opening titles of part two of The End of Time, which means that the next time we update, the Tenth Doctor will be no more, and a new era will be upon us.
In October 2008, when it was announced that David Tennant would be leaving, our inital concern was how the show would continue without him at the helm. Not only is he an amazing actor, but he has also been a truly amazing ambassador for the series since he landed the iconic role in 2005, and, with his last episode imminent, we just want to thank him (again!) for his hard work, commitment and dedication over the last few years. It was his portrayal of the Doctor that inspired us to create a fansite back in 2006, so you could say that WhovianNet is all because of him!
And, of course, goodbye to head writer Russell T Davies and executive producer Julie Gardner, too, who are the people particularly responsible for making the series what it is today. We’ll miss you so much!
So, we’ve had 3 amazing series with the Tenth Doctor, and when he was introduced at the end of the The Parting of the Ways with the words “New teeth, that’s weird…” (one of Russell’s finest!), who would’ve thought that, 4 years down the line, his regeneration would be one of the most eagerly anticipated moments in British television history?
And to mark his long-awaited finale, we’ve brought you around-the-clock news coverage, downloads, discussions, The Christmas Project, his top ten moments, but it all comes down to this. Questions will be answered, lives will be lost, sacrifices will be made, and make sure you’re back here afterwards at 7:55PM (GMT) on the dot to share in the epic journey with us and your fellow fans!
The only thing left for us to say is: are you ready? It’s going to be an unforgettable 75 minutes. Enjoy the show folks, and cherish this epic moment!
See you all on the other side.
a few more hours. its a shame hes leaving but i think matt smith will do alright.
*gulps* I’ve been feeling really ill all day… it’s the only thing I can think about.
Still, it’s going to be amazing.
Goodbye david and thanks so much for what you have brought to the series. And thanks Russell and Julie for creating a fresh new series and bringing in a brand new fan base. All three will be a tough act to follow. Its weird cos I found an old interview with david (pre TCI and NE) and he was worried he wouldn’t make it past one series and now 4 years on hes proved to be a very popular doctor. Im looking forward to tonight but still struggling over whether I can watch his final moments.
I agree pirko. I don’t want to watch it, but sort of have to.
